Rancho Cordova Visual Arts Lessons for Seniors

Since this is a dying art, it has been awhile since I've been commercially active, but I have taught classes before and have the supplies. I'd be most willing to share what I know with others who would be interested in keeping this art form alive!

Each lesson is catered to the students growth from previous lessons. I start off with showing students personal work and showing them the methods I used and the techniques used with those methods. I believe in painting right alongside my students, so be prepared to get dirty!

Photography with professional equipment and software can be very intimidating. I have experience teaching and training in photography and other digital media tools and will help you to get a grasp on all of the ins and outs of photography, getting the results you seek out of your photographs, and photo editing with professional software. I am excited to meet you and get started!

I have practiced and studied calligraphy since 1991. I taught beginning to intermediate pointed pen script at the International Association of Master Penman annual convention in Louisville in 2017. My experience includes teaching at Sycamore Adult Education and the Greater Cincinnati Calligraphers Guild. I enjoy teaching and have a wealth of information and tips to pass on. Nothing beats having an experienced instructor to guide your hand in this beautiful art. Each letter has a secret and I can't keep a secret.

I have been drawing since age 3, and competing artistically since age 6. My complete love and passion for art has helped me win many awards, and graduate with a fine arts degree with honors from the Academy of Art University. I would love to share all my experience with you! I believe anyone can learn to draw, and I can teach a wide variety, from surrealism to photo realism, including portraits! I have several years of teaching experience, and can teach any age bracket! Your lesson plan will be catered to your abilities and goals for the best experience.

I am an independent professional visual artist, with over 20 years' hands on teaching experience in U.S. and abroad.
At the age of 13, I began learning how to paint with my father, who is an established artist, in an informal studio class. Later, I decided to pursue higher education in fine arts and received my BFA and MFA degrees. While working on my Bachelor’s degree, I began teaching in schools and later in my private studio.
My expertise is to help others to discover their special talent, as I believe every person has a unique sense of creation. As an experienced art teacher and mentor, I have always provided a solid education for every one of my students and I have demonstrated an ability to engage students from diverse academic backgrounds and age groups.
My goal is to develop an understanding of and enthusiasm for arts in others by addressing different learning styles. I demonstrate both traditional practices and contemporary critical and technical approaches to painting.
