About Thomecia
Hello! My name is Thomecia, you may call me Mimi :)
I've been teaching at my Alma Mater, Fisk University since I stepped foot on campus in 2010. I taught routines for the cheer squad and hip hop dance team. I also choreographed for numerous students on campus. Before college I obtained 15+ years of experience in many styles of dancing as well as cheerleading. I reside in the Bay Area, and have since advanced my choreography through training, performing with a dance company, artist development, teaching local classes, and more! I love working with children! I also love a great challenge, so if you feel like you have two left feet, I could change your world! Always remember, you are the artist and your body is the paint brush... Just move!

Keomi has a lot of positive energy and is sensitive to the the skill levels of her students so she tailors her classes to give just enough challenge while building on students’ strengths and experiences.
Keomi gives a great cardio workout where you really sweat yet the class is so fun that you don’t notice how hard you are working!
You WILL learn many classic hip hop moves which Keo strings together to make a sexy/cool but accessible choreography. You come out of class feeling blissed - both for the vigorous workout and for accomplishing the dance moves! This is a great class for all levels.

I come from a small place with not much dance training around. I had such a love for dance at a young age that I took it upon myself to branch out and train myself, but traveling to other places to gain experience and train under many different teachers and talent. I am now living in LA working as a professional dancer and would love to give back and teach all the knowledge I have gained and everything I will continue to learn.

I am still working as a dancer in the industry, so even though I may seem young, I believe it gives me and edge when teaching because I know what is current.

About Mariah
Hello! My name is Mariah and I am a passionate artist thriving to share love and light through the arts! I have worked as a professional dancer for ten years and have over fifteenth years of diverse training. In my early years, I received my training from the Debbie Allen Dance Academy where I was molded by the best educators possible to acquire outstanding skills. Learning ballet, jazz, tap, dunham, flamingo, hip hop, salsa, African, point, modern, character, musical theater, and Latin fusion. After high school I attended Columbia College Chicago where I earned my Bachelors of Arts in Theater. During my years at Columbia I combined my passion for dance and interest in acting by diving into as much extracurricular as possible! I was one of the first student co-choreographers to choreograph a main stage musical at Columbia. I was very prou
d to co-choreograph Once On This Island while still working towards my degree! I have a very diverse background and it now reflects in my professional life. Currently, I spend my time taking care of animals, hiking, going to the beach, teaching dance/theater, taking dance class, and keeping up with my younger siblings.

I have judged for Star Bound Dance Competitions, taught lecture demonstrations at various k-12 schools around LA, performed for the Special Olympics, LA Lakers Half Time Show, Spaceship Launch Performance, Playboy Jazz Festival, Wallis Annenberg Center of Performing Arts, and Broadway Cares, worked with networks like FOX and BET, and have danced with various celebrities like Demi Lavato, Chris Brown, and Becky G.

My strive for positivity will help push you to your goals! I am very open and always wanting to learn so I will bring new things to the table constantly. Though, I am a firm believer in repetition and detailed practice. I have been highly disciplined throughout my years in the dance industry, and now combine my skills to create a diverse learning environment.

I can't stress enough how passionate I am about helping people! I plan to conduct a personal lesson that is designed for you. Working together we will create a plan that will exceed your expectations. We will create a comfortable, safe, creative, and diligent environment that is best for you! Small group classes are available as well!

Now, imagine yourself at a wedding, a party or even on a hot date and someone asks you to dance, show off your moves! How would you feel? Maybe you’re too shy, think you have no rhythm and you rather not embarrass yourself, in front of people.

Style Your Motion makes people feel the opposite by breaking down movements into simpler steps so that the beginner can focus on their style and rhythm. The goal we work towards with clients is being able to freestyle dance - in other words; moving to almost any song that comes on at a wedding or party. So forget all those dancers who have taken classes for years and focus on you: the person who wants to learn how to freestyle dance and of course look good doing it!

Since opening, Style Your Motion has gotten over 100 clients of which a significant amount are returning clients. They have learned the techniques needed to freestyle dance and find their style in motion. So, what is your style in motion?

About Patricia
There is this idea that some people are born with rhythm and born knowing how to dance, and some aren’t. There is also the misconception that memorizing choreography is learning how to dance. Patricia believes that dance is a form of expression that can help people from all backgrounds not only work out but also find their own style in motion.

As a kid, Patricia always had a passion for dance but her father who raised both her brother and her alone couldn’t afford to pay for dance lessons. She did not know where or how to begin, so she watched and imitated her brother pop locking, waving, and (as she would say) “his attempts to break dance” every chance I had. Patricia was around 10 years old when she saw her brother practicing in their living-room where there was a mirror that covered up an entire wall. Her brother would repeatedly pl
ay the song practicing his dance to which amazed Patricia how cool and unnatural his moves were.

When Patricia went off to middle school, her desire to dance was still there. Her passion for hip-hop, pop lock, and freestyle dance were still in her, even though she was terrible at it at the time. Around that time you tube became about, so she started watching great dancers pop locking, breakdancing and bone breaking, to any song. Her other big inspiration was Michael Jackson, especially his Billie Jean performance, you know the one where he introduces the moonwalk for the first time and on top of that dancing alone on stage without any background dancers. Although my brother made fun of me when he caught me trying to do the wave and pop, she kept practicing and practicing. She watched herself improve little by little until her wave and pop were on point.

Looking back on my story She realized she was never good at dancing until she started practicing and watching myself in the mirror. “Anyone can dance, it’s all about looking deep inside. - Patty

Patricia did a fun and energetic hip-hop class at my company event. I enjoyed it so much I asked her to organize a hip hop routine for my 9 y.o. daughter's birthday party. Patricia worked with me to prepare a song and a routine suitable for kids' level and interest, and was extremely nice and attentive to details. She was great with the kids. Everyone loved the party, and I got a lot of compliments. My daughter said it was the best birthday ever!

I took Patricia's Beginner's Hip Hop class and it was so much fun! She clearly explained the foundational dance moves, and incorporated them in ways that it would be easy for us to learn. She also tried to address individual needs as much as possible. I went from being self conscious to getting more comfortable and having fun!
