Experience Piano Lessons in Irvine!

By Amber C. - Irvine Piano Teacher

My name is Amber C. and I teach piano in Irvine, CA! Our wonderful city has an exceptional school system, low crime, lots of diversity, and cultural attractions. It’s also a wonderful place to learn piano!

If your desire is to take piano lessons in Irvine, there are many benefits! Pianists can improve coordination, comprehension, and discipline no matter what age. By allocating a certain time everyday to play piano, you develop the discipline to stick to a schedule. Practicing hands separate first, then playing hands together will help improve your coordination. Music is a language. Just by learning to read music will aid in your overall comprehension.

The Pacific Symphony performs everything from the greatest orchestral masterworks to music from today’s most distinguished composers. These stellar musicians complete 100 concerts a year, and the solo performances are always an inspiration. Some famous pianists include Joyce Yang from Korea, Conrad Tao, a young 20 year old, and David Fray. Take a look at their site to find upcoming performances: https://www.pacificsymphony.org.

Symphony Irvine is an ensemble of professional-level volunteer musicians based in the city of Irvine. It takes dedication to perfect your art, which means consistent practice develops technical skills and self-expression. Once these skills are perfected, you will have the confidence to pursue a professional career. For more information, go to http://symphonyirvine.org.

I cannot stress the importance of seeing live performances! They can inspire in a way that you cannot get from the radio, TV, or the Internet. Piano students can learn valuable tips from observing and listening to these seasoned performers. Pay attention to watching their technical skills, how they interpret the music, and their professional behavior.

Many Irvine schools offer the opportunity for students to perform in talent shows, musical theatre, choruses and bands. If you are interested in taking on one of these opportunities, your piano instructor is a great resource for you. They will help you choose appropriate material, help you prepare for your audition, and then help you practice your performance!

I always encourage my students to participate in the community because it provides a goal to achieve and also builds self confidence, creativity, and self expression.

Lately, I have started to record some of my students playing piano because it gives them instant feedback on how they look and sound, and gives us a strong starting point. One example is an eight year old student who was preparing to play solo at a recital. Previously, he had only played duets with me on stage so he was experiencing some stage fright about playing alone. I recorded him at home playing his piece, and coached him about his presentation of bowing, adjusting the piano bench if necessary, and taking a moment to collect himself before he started to play. I encouraged him to think about what the music meant to him and to keep playing if he made a mistake. He performed beautifully. Even though he made one mistake, it was hardly noticeable because he kept playing and didn’t get flustered.

Our city is conducive to learning and creativity, so take advantage of what we have to offer by checking out piano lessons in Irvine! Get inspired and become absorbed in the gift of music!
