All Ages and All Levels. Classically trained. Encourage students to incorporate favorite songs/genres of music be it rock, pop, jazz, etc. For all ages and levels, I prefer to incorporate music theory as part of the learning process. It allows the student to see the how and why, to not only feel music but also understand it. If your goal is primarily playing oriented, I will, of course, adjust my teaching style to fit your needs. Let's make beautiful music!

About Jenny
Music
Jenny comes from a very musical family and started piano when she was five years old. She grew up constantly listening to her father practicing his guitar and brother practicing violin. Since then, her accomplishments include an Honorable Mention at the Korea Times Youth Music Competition. She has performed in two solo recitals and has performed biannually with the Beverly Hills Chamber Orchestra. Jenny has participated in the Frederic Chopin Felix Mendelssohn Minifest 2005 and has regularly performed at the Colburn School of Performing Arts from 2003 - 2008. Jenny was also a part of the Goldcoast Chamber Music Festival and was awarded the second prize at the Chamber Music Walker Competition. She has excellent communication skills and has worked as an assistant to the Program Coordinator at Montecito Summer Music Festival while al
so participating as a performer. In addition to her musical abilities, Jenny has received many academic honors as well. She is a member of the Agoura High Chapter of the California Scholarship and is also on the Dean’s List at the University of Southern California. She graduated from USC with a BA in Music and emphasis on Piano.

Jenny started teaching neighborhood kids while she was in high school and has continued to inspire her students throughout her academic studies. She strives to make every lesson different, tailored to individual student’s needs, whether he or she is a beginning toddler or in need of advanced technique.

Dance
Jenny has always had a passion for the performing arts. During her years at USC, she discovered Latin dancing. She has performed, choreographed, and taught for USC's Latin dance team Break On 2 and is still involved. She has participated and performed at numerous salsa and bachata festivals/congresses.

Music
As a teacher, I try to make music learning as fun and well-rounded as possible. Every student is unique, and I try my best to accommodate every individual's needs. I encourage students to always ask questions, no matter how silly it might sound, and to trust me to help you achieve your goals. I encourage students to tell me their favorite songs and genre of music and use the knowledge to help keep them motivated, to remind them that learning is fun.

For all ages and levels, I prefer to incorporate music theory as part of the learning process. It allows the student to see the how and why, to not only feel music but also understand it. If your goal is primarily playing oriented, I will, of course, adjust my teaching style to fit your needs.

I learn something new from every student, love seeing my students improve and gain confidence in themselves. I ask that students come with an open mind and be prepared to make mistakes because no piece is perfect and neither are lessons. Lessons give you the opportunity to make mistakes without judgement. You can trust me to always have a positive attitude, it is OK to make mistakes, but practice to play better, and enjoy the feedback to see yourself improve! Learning piano does not happen in a few lessons and is a lifelong rewarding process. I hope to see you treat music with respect, so let's make beautiful music together!

Dance
I also provide choreography for wedding dances (couples, father/daughter). My main focus is on the social aspect of Latin dancing, such as salsa, bachata, merengue, and cha cha. Thus, I will only take students who are able to go out dancing to studios, restaurants, and clubs, meaning 18+ individuals or groups. Every week, I will provide new, cool, and stimulating choreography that supplements technique while developing your own unique style. I love to see my students out on the dance floor, implementing moves learned and having fun! Dancing is a healthy, joyful activity. Get ready for a confidence boost and let's get your heart pumping!

As for older students I offer a review of music theory that can help you play/hear some of your favorite songs and most of all have fun! I specialize in working with beginners to intermediate pianists of all ages, especially those at any level who know the style of music they want to explore and master. My passion is working with my students in ways that prepare them to pursue their musical interests armed with technique, music-reading capabilities, and what I call the "building blocks" of music: knowledge of functional music theory and how to use it.

"Music theory" can sound daunting, but in fact it is fascinating, at least the way I teach it, using analogies appropriate to the age of the student, from chords like different types of sandwiches (yum!) to chord progressions like the materials and equipment used to build a house.

I encourage my students from the start to EXPRESS themselves musically, emotionally, playfully, in ways that keep their imaginations engaged in their musical studies, rather than private lessons becoming stressful or tedious. Let's get started in my beautiful home teaching studio in ...

About Teresa
A musician since age 4, Teresa's dad took her early passion for music seriously. So she respects the power that parents have to foster their children's musical lives! She notes the many stories she has heard over the years: "If someone had just supported my interest"... "If my teacher had listened to what I wanted to learn."

These stories and her own passion for music-making inform her approach. A degreed music educator and multi-instrumentalist, she celebrates and uses the musical interests of her students to move them forward. She has three grown sons, including two touring musicians. Their musical lives also influence her work with children, young people, and adults. The point is to celebrate and develop each student's unique, interest-based musical self-expression.

In her home teaching studio in Sherwood Forest, CA, 30 minutes
is the perfect lesson time for most purposes. Options include piano, voice, ukulele, beginning guitar, music reading/theory, and preparation for auditions. Teresa also conducts early childhood music sessions for 3 to 5 year-olds and is available to do group sessions.

45-minute and 60-minute sessions are also available as needed. Teresa recommends 45 minutes to an hour for audition preparation.

I like to begin with warm-ups, then jump into learning something new, be it a time signature, key, technique, or composer. I like to incorporate music theory and ear training, but still keep the lesson fun, relaxed, and let the student ask questions and "play around" as well. I learned using the Alfred Basics books, and I think having a variety of music books - technique, recital, fun, and theory - gives the student a balanced approach without being overwhelming. I'm a sweet and funny lady. :)

About Tamara
Hello! My name is Tamara. I grew up in Minnesota and started taking piano and violin lessons when I was ten years old. I played in orchestra, in pits, sang in choir, acted in plays, and competed in speech competitions. After graduating from high school I went to the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in New York City to study musical theatre. I completed my BFA in Musical Theatre from Millikin University and have been acting and singing in professional productions in Chicago and Minneapolis ever since. I've also taught piano, violin, and voice lessons to private students for the past five years. I moved to LA last May with my Yorkshire terrier, Teddy. I love music and interacting with young people, and while I will encourage you in your practice and progress, I believe the most important thing is to enjoy learning and creating music.

Hi There!

Before I became an opera singer, I took classical piano lessons for many many years and throughout college we were required to take piano lessons.
Even though I am primarily a vocalist, I believe that it is very important that all voice teachers are able to play the piano, so that we may help our students sing correct rhythms, pitches, and accompany them with their vocal exercises.

As an intermediate pianist, I teach beginners of all ages! You are never too young or too old to play piano!

About Sarabeth
Hello fellow singers! My goal is to help you refine your own unique instrument and help you to express a story and art through the voice!

I grew up taking piano lessons and singing in my church and school choir. I always had a love for all classical music and soon enough fell in love with opera! I begin taking classical voice lessons at the age of 15 and soon realized that my heart and soul belonged to opera and had to continue my studies a lot more in depth.

I went to UCLA where I received my Bachelor of Arts with my emphasis in Opera Performance. Throughout the years spent at UCLA, I not only continued to sing with choral groups, but also performed in every opera. I sang one of the principles roles in Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges, and sang one of the principles roles in many opera scenes such as Dorabella from Così fan tutt
e, Mercedes in Carmen, Second Lady in The Magic Flute, Nerone in L'incorazione di Poppea.

Since I graduated college I have collaborated with nationally known directors, conductors, and voice teachers such as Peter Kazaras, James Darrah, Bruce Stasyna, Juliana Gondek, and Enrique Toral. I have sang in Master Classes given by Susan Graham and Bradley Moore. I have performed roles with Astoria Music Festival, Miami Music Festival, Opera NEO, and San Diego Opera.

As a teacher my job is to use my knowledge and experience to help my students learn to sing with as much ease as possible, while refining the instrument for the classical repertoire. I not only focus on technique, but also diction and artistry, because as singers we are story tellers.

I highly recommend Sarabeth to anyone interested in singing, whether you have already had some background in voice or you are just starting out.

Sarabeth is a truly amazing voice teacher!!! She led me step by step through many vocal exercises and taught me many a great classical song! Her patience and encouragement were ever present at each lesson as I stumbled through the classical songs which were written in other languages.

I have SMA type 1-2, a severely debilitating and progressive disease, and my lung capacity was 24% of normal when Sarabeth started teaching me. Under her guidance, I was able to increase my lung capacity to 28%! Believe me when I say that this is not supposed to happen to people with SMA. In general our lung capacities continue to decrease as the disease progresses until we need to be placed under mechanical ventilation. The most common mode of death for people with SMA is respiratory failure.

I am deeply saddened that Sarabeth is moving away to Los Angeles and will no longer be able to be my singing teacher, but wishing her the best of luck there!!! I will always remember her as the incredibly wonderful teacher she is!

My teaching style for piano is specialized and unique to every student, as I cater lessons to your goals and your individual learning style. Whether you like to learn "by the book," by ear, by example, or a combination of the three (which I find is the most common), I am more than happy to teach in that style in order to give you the most reward out of your lesson and a deep appreciation for piano.
I integrate piano technique and music theory concepts while we learn the repertoire of your choice.

About Moriah
Hi there! My name is Moriah, and I have been teaching private voice and piano lessons for 4.5 years. I graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a Bachelors of Arts in Music, emphasis in Music Industry Studies, including voice and performance training. I have studied with/been coached by Martin Green from Citrus College, Dr. Susan Ali and Kendra Vuk from Cal Poly Pomona, and Aretha Scruggs.

I specialize in singing and teaching commercial styles, particularly pop, rock, and soul, but my approach to all commercial vocal practice is derived from classical traditions, mainly from the Swedish-Italian school of vocal production. No matter your skill level or background, you can be assured that you will receive a solid foundation in theory and technical skill through our lessons.

In addition to voice, I also teach all levels of piano!
If you're interested in playing this incredibly versatile instrument, I will gladly help you develop your talent. My piano instruction style is based on how you learn as a student. I have taught by the book, by ear, and by example. Whichever your learning style, I have the skills to accommodate you.

As an avid songwriter, I can guide you through the songwriting process, show you how to write melodies that fit your range and vocal timbre, and give you tips to improve your songs. I also specialize in audition and performance preparation for both voice and piano.

In addition to helping you strengthen your technique and prowess in voice and piano, I will teach you how to maintain your progress and prime yourself for continuous growth. You will never feel judged or put down in your lessons with me. I make it my mission to foster an environment of encouragement, self-esteem, and fun. However, like a personal trainer, I will hold you accountable, because I want to see you excel and stand out in your musical endeavors. I want you to thrive as a musician. I look forward to our first session together!

When I first met Moriah, I was a little hesitant to continue lessons with her because she was in her 20s like myself. I wanted someone, I guess, older to be my instructor. The older they are, the more they know, the more they can teach right? ...........Well, Moriah is one heck of a smart woman when it comes to music theory, and ear/vocaltraining! She knows what she is talking about and even more so, knows how to explain it in a way YOU will understand. She will work with you until you are able to grasp what she is trying to teach, even if you have to try a million different methods before the right one is found. She would rather spend time with you in fully understanding something then just pushing you along. She is open to questions, comments and concerns you have. Moriah is very aware of the concept of “one size does NOT fit all”, and she will customize your session to your needs, and skill level.

Her lessons usually start of with a couple of stretches (usually just upper body). This is to help relax your body, jaw, mouth, etc before singing. Then she will do some vocal warms that at first seem pretty basic, and not intense, but they will help you in the long run! Trust me. Then she will practice with you a song you want to try to sing or need help with. As you progress, she will have you work on reading music and other skills. (Course, she is open to working on anything more or less as you need). Once again, your lesson is customized on what YOU need.

I’ve been working with her since July 2018. I know that I have improved on ear training immensely! I am able to pick up melodies much faster than before. I am able to sing more powerful than before which is something I struggle with consistently. She will push you! She will take you out of your comfort and push you to have confidence in yourself. She has a great personality. Kind. Fun. Energetic. Intelligent beyond her years. I’m continuing to take lessons with her until she makes me the next Beyoncé or something.

So I highly recommend her. Book a few lessons with her, attend them, don’t forget to take your water, and a recoding device, be responsible and take it serious because she is taking you serious. After all you’re paying for the lessons. You want to improve. And you will.

I’m looking forward to continue working with her and be stretched more.

Hands down Moriah is an excellent teacher. She really helped me to understand the difference between singing from my throat and from my core. She reminded me to enjoy the process of learning a new song and to embrace my originality. I’ve studied with her for awhile and she’s shown me how to push myself and appreciate all the work that I’ve done, learning to trust myself.

Eric is fantastic! I took piano lessons as a child and was looking to brush up on my music reading skills as an adult. Eric was the perfect teacher to help me regain my musical confidence. He is so patient, and is very thorough with his instruction.
I received easy and fun piano exercises that I could work on throughout the week in between lessons. I also loved that he came to my home, and I was able to receive instruction on my home keyboard. He is a wonderful teacher!

I tried learning piano as a kid and just couldn’t do it because my family could not afford a piano in the home. Finally, as an adult, I decided to try again. I got an electronic piano and tried some online courses but it just wasn’t working. I found an ad for Eric’s lessons and the first one was great. He made the lessons enjoyable and more importantly the practicing excercises were tedious but fun and I could see how they connected with each other. Kid or adult, I would recommend Eric, comes to your home and will get you playing quickly.
