I have been teaching the wonderful instrument of the piano for more than seven years. I utilize the Faber Piano Adventures piano series of lesson books that includes lessons and homework in a fun and engaging way to promote retention. I also use the publication A New Approach to Keyboard Harmony to learn chord progressions, sequences, modulations, realization of both figured and un-figured basses, basic improvisation, and score reading. Learning these techniques will help transition students seamlessly to various styles and genres that incorporate the piano, helping you learn and love the piano without frustrating stoppages that often lead us away from lesson continuity. From there, for intermediate and advance students I use the Hanon Piano Exercises Book to promote correct and precise fingering, syncopation, arpeggiation, pedaling, and key centering. My History of Piano: I have been teaching piano for 10 years. My 30 years of training is mostly through private lessons and passed down generational methods taught through my mentor, Joann Maybe. My Teaching Method: I assess each students' levels, knowledge and styles of learning, determine the best learning paths to incorporate into the lesson and bring a "natural movement" approach of training and education. With my method, this is to provide a collaborative & supportive environment as well as actively develop a person's life, culture and well-being. I strive to take a step further and deeper within the mind of the person who is learning dance and find one's "True Inner Dancer." My Teaching Credits: Private Piano Lessons My Training Credits: Private Piano Lessons - Joann Maybe My Trained Methods: Alfred Bastien Faber Carr-Glover Glover Thompson Schaum PLEASE NOTE: For a more accurate look into my experience and resume, please refer to my profile. Any advanced, duet, group, weddings, birthdays, or any special occasion will differ than the usual lesson rate.

I've been teaching music for 15 yrs on guitar, piano, bass, cello and bass. My students have ranged from from 5yrs to 75yrs of age. I have seen many student go on to join orchestras, bands, broadway shows or simply continued their education to a university or college. Being able to read music profeciently has given me the opportunity to teach off many method books but like to use Alfred Method, Mel Bay and Frederick Noad Method books. I teach many styles ranging from classical, jazz & blues, rock, contemporary and pop. I do stress and recommend all my students to learn how to read music and usually by our second or third lesson they will playing simple songs. I am here to help you make music!

In our lessons, beginning students will learn to read music, play their favorite pieces, how to do warm ups and learn basic skills. I use sheet music and introductory books in my classes and assign homework for their daily practice. After 3 months, each student will move to the next level and continue learning more advanced skills. More advanced students will learn how to understand and compose music, put expression into the pieces they play and improve their current skills.
