We are so thankful we found Patrick! Patrick is a very effective teacher who’s able to relate and motivate students. Our daughter was loosing interest in playing piano due to her former teacher’s approach. Now she’s back to practicing because she wants to and is so excited to see Patrick each week. We are very greatful that she’s back to loving piano and continuing to learn.

I've been teaching singing and vocal performance for over four years. I utilize the Kodaly method for vocal performance, starting at the basic level of tonal scales (major, minor, harmonic, melodic, etc.) and Solfege application to serve as a foundational base; rhythm syllables such as "ta" and "doo". Additionally, foundational breath control is applied, as it is very important for the singer to learn how to control their breath and support their sound. From there, repertoire mimicry is applied, or what I call "phrase building," as it is important for any singer to be able to effectively create vocal phrases.

Milton is an excellent instructor! He is very knowledgeable, kind, and patient. The guitar curriculum he uses is very good. I have prior musical knowledge in piano, and Milton knows when I need to be challenged/need extra work and when I can breeze through exercises on my new instrument. Lessons are really fun and I always look forward to them. Highly recommended!

Zach is awesome! My 15yo daughter has been loving her lessons and is excited to show us what she has learned after every lesson. She picked up the guitar herself about six months ago and after learning some basics from YouTube she asked if she could have lessons to get to the next level. She will definitely be continuing her weekly lessons with Zach for as long as she wants. We love hearing her practice every day and are excited that she is learning to play the music she listens to and has a passion for.

"I took voice lessons from Mary Ann at Groovin' On Music from 2007-2009, and they were worth every penny. I was a background singer in a worship team at church and I was shy to sing lead because I didn't know how to sing vibrato or navigate the falsetto break in my range. I had always wanted to take lessons as a kid but never was able to until adulthood. I was a bit nervous when I first came in, but Mary Ann put me at ease. She is a beautiful spirit who inspired me, challenged me, and made me laugh. She is not only amazingly talented and experienced, but she genuinely loves people and makes the lessons an enjoyable experience. Mary Ann definitely took my voice to the next level. Many people have commented on the difference in my voice and my confidence level before and after the lessons. I now sing lead, am at home with my vibrato and know how to use all the notes in my range. I would absolutely recommend Mary Ann as a voice coach for people of all ages!"

"I had Cosima for a few months and I saw a change in my voice. Not only did she help me improve my voice but she was able to explain it in a way that I could understand the fundamentals of how singing happened. I had a song that I wanted to sing for my sisters wedding and if she didn't help I probably wouldn't have sang. I would like to say thank you to Cosima for helping me understand singing/vocal world. I was so new to it even though I have been singing from young age. She was able to help find my struggle in singing and we worked at it as much as possible to improve it. My chest voice and bridges definitely got better then what they were when I first started taking lessons with her. I have learned a lot and I have seen a difference in my voice. I'm really happy and blessed that I was able to have Cosima as my teacher. I greatly appreciate her teaching me. I recommend her as a great singing teacher."

Experience Singing Lessons in Irvine!

By Amber C. - Irvine Singing Teacher

My name is Amber C. and I teach voice lessons in Irvine, CA! Families are drawn to this city for its exceptional school systems, low crime, high diversity, and many cultural attractions. It’s a wonderful place to learn to sing!

This city has abundant opportunities in pursuing your musical education. Whether you are interested in perfecting your voice or starting from scratch, don’t hesitate to get started with singing lessons in Irvine. Take the first step and get inspired by going to live shows!

There is quite a variety of performances at many venues throughout Orange County. You can experience everything from classical and opera, to jazz and pop, to rock and roll! Here are a few of my favorite examples:

Irvine Barclay Th

...

eater is located off of the University of California, Irvine campus. It has a reputation for wide-ranging programming in music including classical, pop, folk/traditional, and jazz genres. Performances take place in Cheng Hall, which seats around 800 people and is celebrated for its intimate atmosphere and top-quality acoustics. Check it out: http://thebarclay.org

Soka University's beautiful Soka Performing Arts Center is newly opened. The Soka Performing Arts Center is also an exceptional theatre which features acoustics by Yasuhisa Toyota, designer of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and other world-class venues. There are always great performances being scheduled. Some past vocal performances have included the South Coast Singers, a vocal group consisting of 50 singers, soloists, and instrumentalists, and the All-American Boys Chorus, the only boys’ chorus in southern California. For a taste of opera, soprano Mariangela Spotorno has been featured, and for jazz lovers, vocalist Jackie Ryan has performed there during their fall jazz festival. You can even become a member or buy a subscription series or get on their mailing list. That way you won’t miss any of the performances! Go to www.performingarts.soka.edu for a schedule of the upcoming performances!

It is entertaining and educational to see live performances. Vocal students can learn a lot about performance by observing and listening to professionals. For example, I am always inspired when I see singers performing in person. I especially like to hear their unique interpretation and arrangement of well-known songs. It’s fun to hear the differences when they take a song that is usually sung up-tempo and sing it as a ballad, or vice versa.

There are so many benefits to singing! It can help to improve physical and mental health, reduce stress, and create an emotional outlet and means of self-expression. Check out the many teachers that offer singing lessons in Irvine, and start hitting the open mic and karaoke nights- it’s time to incorporate singing into your life!
