Each lesson is designed on the level of the student's ability from beginner to advanced. Rock, R&B, funk, jazz, blues, POP and country music. I like to use song learning as a vehicle to sharpen your skills. Learning skills through songs is more fun for beginners. More advanced students will work on everything from theory, reading, harmony; and how you can use scales and arpeggios in a number of ways over several different styles of music.

He is good!!!
I can play the very basic when I started but still need someone to help me to put everything together. He can diagnosis my level and design the learning plan for me when we first met. Lesson is fun and he always got something new/interesting to for students to work and practice.

Incredible and knowledgeable guitar instructor!

I just realized how important to have a teacher right in front me to guide and correct my fingers when I had my 1st class with Stephen. Just like everybody else, I took the online lessons for few months with other teacher and also learned from Youtube on my own in the last two years. I can play but I knew I was missing something.

He really brought me to the next level.
Katherine
Lesson was fun!!!!

I can play the basic chords before I met him. Stephen can oversee the problems and fix it when in the first lesson. I was like....WoW!!! He is a experienced guitar instructor. Impressed!!!

My primary goal as a teacher is to present musical material in a way that keeps students excited about what they are learning. Even with absolute beginners, I will have a student playing actual songs that they are interested in as quickly as possible. Along with way I include fundamentals such as scales, strength-building exercises, rudiments of theory, and ear training.

"I was Omar's first student, and even when he did not have teaching experience, he was excellent. From the first day of lessons, I learned the basics of the electric guitar and never stopped. Even during busy touring schedules, he made time to come to lessons and always kept me interested and involved. I learned under Omar for 7 years, during this time, he not only taught me how to play guitar, but how to understand music as a whole much better."

"A++++++++++++++++++++++

I highly recommend Jeff as a guitar teacher.
His method of teaching is very versatile and he is willing to create exactly what the student wants to learn. His knowledge is vast and his understanding of theory is overwhelming. So if you are undecided of which instructor to try, please look no further and give Jeff a chance to broaden your playing abilities, I'm sure glad I did.

"So far, I've only had one lesson with Adam but I am looking forward to lots more. Adam seems very astute & knowledgeable not just in guitar-playing but in music theory, which is exactly what I'm lookin for in an instructor. He's helping me correct a few bad habits I've developed over the years, on my own. The way he explains things is very simple & to the point. I definitely recommend him based on my first lesson. I'll see if I can update my review at some point in the future but unless something goes horribly wrong, I wouldn't anticipate much to changen"

"I cannot say enough about Billy. At first I wasn’t sure what to expect. Billy put me at ease immediately. I find him professional, friendly and extremely considerate. He also tailors each lesson to his client. I wanted to delve more into theory. Billy knows his stuff across a spectrum of instruments. He wrote music for me and gave me the building blocks for more skills. I can see Billy really loves music and teaching. It shines through every time I see him, and that makes me more hopeful. I’d say that’s as much as you can ask for a teacher."

Guitar Lessons in Irvine, California

By Richard C. – Irvine Guitar Teacher

Guitar is one of the most popular instruments to play for a variety of reasons. First it’s polyphonic. That is to say, you can play single-note melodies or you can play harmony with chords to accompany another player, as well as your own voice. There is also a vast variety of styles to try, including fingerpicking, strumming, flamenco, or rocking out with tunes by your favorite pop stars. Trying to play different styles will enhance your listening experience when you hear others who have mastered particular styles on the guitar.

Thirdly, the guitar is also very portable. You can travel and take your guitar with you to other cities or just to a friend’s house down the street. They come in many sizes, and some are made specifically for traveling.

Once a player has some proficiency on the instrument, there are numerous jam sessions and guitar hangouts available in Orange County to demonstrate the skills you have been learning during your guitar lessons in Irvine! The Bayside Restaurant has a Friday night jam session with some great players who pop in (http://www.baysiderestaurant.com/). If you’re not quite ready to jump in, there is much you can learn from watching, and you can always listen just for the sake of enjoyment!

The Association of Fingerstyle Guitarists hosts lots of listening and playing opportunities (http://www.meetup.com/Association-of-Fingerstyle-Guitarists/). Additionally, a local gentleman has put together an ongoing series of shows called the Lord of the Strings Concerts, with performances from world-renowned guitarists such as Laurence Juber, who played with Paul McCartney in Wings, finger-stylist great Martin Taylor, and many other fabulous talents. The shows are all in small venues, where every seat is a great one, and the ticket prices are amazingly affordable.

There is also an abundance of guitar shops in this area, giving players a wide selection of instruments. We have big-name stores like Guitar Center but also many small shops for those who like a less corporate type of shopping experience. Nearby, you have Jim’s Music Center, Guitar Shoppe of Laguna Beach, and The Guitar Doctor, just to name a few. Many offer repair service, guitar set-ups as well as custom-built guitars to your specifications. So, whether you want a used or new instrument or need extensive or minor repairs, you’re covered in and around Irvine, California.

Guitar players are notoriously self-conscious about their playing ability and frequently compare themselves to other players based on their skills and speed. But, the great equalizer when playing guitar is that no one can play the instrument like you. No one else touches the strings with the same weight and pressure of your touch on the fretboard. This makes no two guitarists quite the same. Similar to snowflakes, no two guitarists are alike. So, no matter where you are in the learning curve while taking guitar lessons in Irvine, you can rest assured that you are capable of creating your own unique sound on the instrument.
