All Ages and All Levels. Classically trained. Encourage students to incorporate favorite songs/genres of music be it rock, pop, jazz, etc. For all ages and levels, I prefer to incorporate music theory as part of the learning process. It allows the student to see the how and why, to not only feel music but also understand it. If your goal is primarily playing oriented, I will, of course, adjust my teaching style to fit your needs. Let's make beautiful music!

About Jenny

Music Jenny comes from a very musical family and started piano when she was five years old. She grew up constantly listening to her father practicing his guitar and brother practicing violin. Since then, her accomplishments include an Honorable Mention at the Korea Times Youth Music Competition. S

Excellent piano teacher for our 6 year old son. Jenny is patient and great overall with kids. I appreciate the incorporation of both theory and practice into the lessons Seven months in, we have seen significant progress and best of all, our son is showing initiative to play on his own.

I have been teaching piano for over twenty years. I specialize in classical and pop. I love teaching babies and young children but I teach all ages. Piano is the hardest instrument. I try to make every lesson fun while still providing structure and a little bit of strictness. I use the Mark Nevin, Schaum, and Little Mozart series. I have tons of music to share for students that need to branch out and don't know what to play. Piano is my passion. I love sharing my love for this instrument with others.

About Kay

I have been teaching Piano for 20 years now. I have taught students from age 2 1/2 - Adult. I was self-taught when I was a kid and begun taking formal lessons as a very young adult in my early twenties. I graduated from CSULB with my BA in Music with a concentration on Voice. As a Music major, you

Learn while only playing songs you love! I will always keep an eye on technique - and I'm happy to help you learn to read, learn how to follow chord charts, play by ear, or all three - but I believe students should never look at it as homework. Piano has been a best friend since I started playing 40+ years ago and I love sharing it. So we only learn through your favorite songs. I've been teaching for 25 years, have performed with 8 Grammy winning acts, and have composed for much film, TV, and internet - from Spike Lee to MTV to major film studios. I was classically trained, accepted into conservatory while still in high school, and started playing in bands when I was 12 :) I also teach guitar, singing, and songwriting. I have taught junior high, high school, and college English and writing. I have taught special needs kids. I also work as a book author and screenwriter - but I love teaching and always enjoy having students. Pop, rock, reggae, R&B, classical - you name it, I can help! ...

About Scott

Learn to play by ONLY playing songs you love! I started playing classical piano at age 6. Piano lessons were a bit dry so, once I could, I started playing my favorite songs on my own, out of songbooks and by ear. 45 years later, piano has probably saved me a ton on therapy :) And, it's helped me m

Ever since Alyssa Miller was 8 years old, she has had a passion for music. Currently Alyssa is minoring in General Music Studies at SDSU. For 2 years she studied under classical guitarist Sean Basset at San Diego State University. She also studied under Dr. Bryan Bozenthel, a classical voice teacher. This allowed Alyssa to deeply expand her knowledge on proper techniques for voice and guitar which also allowed her to incorporate these techniques into everyday playing and singing.

Each students lessons will be catered and approached differently based on the students individual goals. Typically, I give students some exercises to help improve techniques and also allow them to pick repertoire they would like to work on. I encourage each student to try and apply some music theory to each repertories or songs they take on. I highly encourage that each student also practice sight reading with their instruments. It is important for a student to develop the ability to read music as well as ...

You can expect instruction in three areas--theory, technique, and repertoire, or put more simply, ideas, skills, and songs. I will teach you a skill, we will discuss why and how it works, and then I will show you how to use it in the context of a song. This process can take place over a few months or a few minutes, depending on what's being discussed and the experience level of the student. I will almost always send you home with reference sheets and/or recordings. Though we sometimes learn out of books, I prefer to generate custom lessons and materials and focus on playing by ear.

About John

I've noticed that most musicians spend very little time on the things that really work. Often times, the things great musicians tell us we should do are not the things we practice! So many musicians and students come to me saying that they want to get better, they want to perform, they want to cr

I am a Broadway musician with over 20 years of teaching experience. I know that each student learns differently so I use many different teaching methods and musical genres in lessons. I can help you get started on an instrument, improve your current abilities, work on school band and orchestra music, prepare for festival and solo auditions, prepare for college auditions, or just find great enjoyment in playing.

I pack a lot into each lesson making sure we address things such as: posture, theory, accuracy of rhythm, note reading, warm-ups, scales, etudes, solos, musicality, composition, interpretation and technique.

Julie is incredible! After several years of in-home lessons, she has proven to be the most personable, knowledgeable and efficient instructor my family has ever hired. Even the transition to on-line instruction has been smoother than I could have imagined. Such a great investment for all of us!

I have wanted to learn how to play piano since I was a child. During Covid and being quarantined, I figured I'd finally work toward achieving the goal. I am in my late 30s and had zero experience. I took 10 lessons with Julie and am thrilled with the progress I've made already. Throughout the whole experience, Julie has made me feel like I can reach my full potential and easily noticed when I practiced. Her praise and belief in me motivated me to keep trying. I could go on and on about how wonderful and caring Julie is! If you're looking for a piano instructor, look no further! You'd be lucky to be her student. I know I was. :)

"My 8 year old son has been taking piano lessons from Ruth for about 6 month now. She is wonderful with him. They do as much giggling as they do playing the piano but he is learning so much! My son will likely never be a spectacular pianist but he will learn to love music and playing for his own enjoyment from Ruth.
