About Edwin
Hello! Thank you for your interest in taking guitar/piano/music lessons.

I am a professional teacher/studio musician/performer/producer with over 17 years of private teaching experience and a graduate of the University of Miami Studio Music and Jazz program in 2002 specializing in the guitar.

I am available to teach guitar(acoustic, electric, classical) for all levels, ages, and styles(pop to folk, rock to soul, world to classical) in English, Spanish and Japanese.

Other subjects taught include bass guitar, piano/keyboard, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, harmonium, classical percussion, music theory, composition(all styles from pop to classical), ear training, and studio production/engineering/mixing.

Born in Cali, Colombia on April 1979, I began my musical endeavors studying the piano at the age of 6. Early on I had the opportunit
y to play percussion in the school symphony while at the same time developed an intense interest in the instrument that would become my true love, the guitar.

During 1996-98 I studied jazz guitar at the New World School of the Arts music program under the direction of J.B. Dyas and Dr. Roby George. Upon graduation, I was immediately accepted to the University of Miami jazz guitar program under the direction of Randall Dollahan. It was during this time that I also refined my skills as a classical guitarist and as a composer/arranger. In addition, I began passing my knowledge onto friends and eventually began working as a teacher.

My ability to play almost any genre of music is the fruit of past experience playing with an impressive variety of music groups, including jazz combos, symphony orchestras, Andean world music ensembles, and several rock and pop groups as well. As a studio guitarist I have recorded for various artists including Jaci Velasquez, Carlos Ponce, Alexandre Pires, and Noelia.

Every one of you is unique and there are many possible paths to reach your goals in music.

With my background and music industry experience, I am able to customize my lessons for you so that you can reach your desired goals. We will take some time to find out where your passion lies in music and I will use my experience and knowledge to create a customized lesson-plan that will allow us to focus on reaching your desired goals and at the same time maintain a well rounded music education.

I find this to be key in making the lessons and your practice sessions very enjoyable, fun and laid back - knowing that everything we practice, play and talk about is in line with your goals as a student.

I will also be playing along with you and demonstrating everything that we're working on - music is meant to be shared and played with others and it is important to have that experience of interaction from early on in your lessons.

So whether it's learning to accompany yourself or others, write songs, read music, understand harmony, solo, or just jam out to your favorite songs, you will be well on your way to reaching your goals within 6 months of my lessons.

Look forward to making music with you!

Soo loves teaching her students of all ages. She's now been teaching almost for 10 years with the greatest passion. Not only does she love music, she also loves interacting with people and sharing her passion about music with everybody! She has a set of curriculum for beginners but for more advanced students she comes up with new ways that fit each individuals.
For 6 years, she's been studying with Robert McDonald, who's now world-renowned pianist/teacher, at The Juilliard School. Under the theory of Dorothy Taulman, she's very well trained with this particular technique which helped her a lot as a professional pianist. This technique is based on how our body works and helps to prevent from injuring our hands which happens quiet often to many of musicians these days.
Soo Yeon is very friendly and has a outgoing personality that people can approach her with comfort. She also makes sure that every one of her students gets a chance to perform regardless of the level of their playing. Occasionally she offers her livingroom in her house as one of the performing venues for her students, so all of the music-lovers get to experience what it feels like to be a performing artist!

I must say I was hesitant at first to enroll my daughter and browse through many piano teachers here without specific recommendations. My hesitations was at eased when I met Ms. Cho for few sessions and I consider my daughter lucky to have a piano teacher like her. She is very considerate, patient, talented, and understanding in all aspects especially dealing with a 5 year old. We saw Ms. Cho at her element and she is truly one amazing and gifted pianist. If you are around her area and is looking for a piano teacher, without any hesitations, I definitely and highly recommend Ms. Cho. Good luck!

I hold a bachelor's of music degree in piano from the University of Southern California. I've been teaching for over 15 years and have been a member of the Music Teacher's Association of California for the same length of time. I teach songs, technique/scales, sight reading, theory, and improvisation. Students are encouraged to take part in 2 studio recitals a year as well as MTAC evaluations in March of each year. There are also special festivals and recitals within MTAC in which eligible students may play. I also work with adult students or those wishing to explore music in a more "free" and less structured environment.

About Shannon
I hold a master's in voice from CSUF and a double bachelor's in piano and voice from USC. With over 13 years of experience as a private voice and piano instructor I have had the privilege of helping many students achieve their musical goals. As a member of MTAC and NATS, I enter many students in Certificate of Merit, Student Evaluation Program, and other festivals. For pianists, I work on songs, scales, theory, ear training and sometimes improvisation. For singers, we work on a breath-based breathing technique and songs that reinforce good singing habits but that are also engaging for the singer. We also work on sight singing and theory.Though my training is mostly in classical music, I do work on other styles with my students.

*** Lesson Details ***
For pianists, I recommend the Premier Alfred piano course, or for older beginners/ad
ults, we use Adult Piano Adventures. I also recommend purchasing a scale/technique book and a theory book.

For singers, please bring a recording device (phone is ok) so that you may later practice the exercises which we learn in the lesson.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a Baldwin grand piano as well as an electronic piano in my studio. For budding pianists, I offer instruction with Piano Marvel software.

I firmly think that leaning a music instrument must be a joyful and fun experience and it should be all about having fun as long as students learn, accomplish musical goals and build up their confidences. That is pretty much what I do in my piano lessons by guiding my students in the process of achieving their own aims, supervising that every single step is well taken and making them realize their small achievements so that they are able to develop musical confidence.
Just let me help you accomplish your goals of piano playing and have fun as long as we do so.

About Diego
In addition to being responsible, reliable and patient. I’m a fanatic for teaching – particularly when it is about guiding children, adolescents, and adults in their love for learning music. As a music instructor with more than eight years' experience, I have learned how to teach instruments such as guitar, bass, and piano in an efficient and enjoyable way, always looking for satisfying students' needs and their love for playing. I will bring my expertise to every single lesson in order to help you out to accomplish your musical goals with the best outcomes. When do we start?

Hi there,

My name is Jade. I have over 6 years of piano teaching experience with beginner to advanced level players of all ages! As a pianist and composer myself, it is such a joy for me to share the beauty of music with more people! Over the years, I have developed a curriculum that will allow beginners to learn music notation, theory and be able to play songs within no time! But of course, if you like to play by ear, no problem! All lessons will be customized so each student can learn at his/her own pace.
When pursuing my Master's degree in Music Ed, I learned a lot about working with younger students. I know exactly how to keep their attentions to the class and guide them to practice willingly.
For adult learners, if you just want to learn a particular song, or need a little boost for college piano tests, I can help you too! I'm bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese, so lessons could be given in both :)

Are you ready for the adventure? Let's get started!

About Jade
I love adventures, food, and animals.
I write and teach music for a living.
I paint and make arts for fun.

Having been part of a band, Klaviam, for over 12 years, I have the technical skills and knowledge of not only the piano, but also a wide array of other instruments as well, such as the guitar, drums, and bass. My music is highly diverse as well, so I can teach my students everything from classical to heavy metal.

My foremost philosophy in teaching piano is following the student's goals and dreams, not mine. While curriculum work is certainly vital, it is far more important that my students receive help they need in accomplishing their biggest aspirations in music. Whether you want to be a music composer, rock-star, or just playing for your loved ones, I can bring you closer to that goal.

About Alec
-=Overview=-
I currently work as a video-game and film composer, so pairing my main career with teaching seems like a perfect marriage. I would be happy to discuss the techniques behind music creation.

Music has always been my passion throughout my life. I don't think there has been a day where I haven't engaged in music in some way. Teaching others how to experience this level of passion brings me the upmost joy in my life. There is nothing I would do else than sharing my knowledge of music.

-=What are your current rates?=-
Standard Lesson Plan: $25 for 30 minutes. The day's lesson will include practical warm-ups, going through the curriculum, and finally, learning a song of the student's choice as the end.

Premium Lesson Plan: $33 for 40 minutes. In addition to the previous activities, I will also teach the basics of creating
your own songs. I will demonstrate the techniques used in song creation, the rules, and how to break the rules if necessary.

-=What is your typical process for working with a new student?=-
I will first go over with the student the days and times for our lessons. After a sufficient schedule has been laid out, I will listen to the student's needs and goals he wants to accomplish. I will personally adjust the curriculum and session time to fit the student's requirements.

-=What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?=-
I have been a music composer for the past 3 years, part of the band Klaviam for over 12 years, and have played the piano for even longer. I have been instructed by wonderful and experienced tutors in both piano and compositional skills. I am also familiar with digital audio workstations (DAWs), and can instruct students should they want to pursue that area.

-=What types of students have you worked with?=-
Mostly 6-18 year-olds, but I have also worked with younger children, as well as adult beginners as well.
