I'm not young, and I'm hard to teach music theory to, but he was patient, and is helping me figure a way into learning important stuff that I find kinda dry and not fun to practice. (I'm a good player, but music theory is very challenging to me.)

My daughter enjoyed the first lesson very much! Looking forward to more!

Corinne is a wonderful teacher! She is patient and has such a positive energy. I always leave my lesson feeling better than when I came in. She's very knowledgeable and wants the best for all her students. She can teach any age! I'm a 25 year old beginner and thought it would be difficult to learn and keep up with playing the piano, but Corinne supports and inspires me. I can't recommend Corinne enough.

I have been wanting to play an instrument for such a long time, but never had the motivation to try it, until recently. Wanting to play Piano was a spur of the moment decision for me. I googled piano teachers in my area and Corinne was one of the first people to pop up. After reading all her rave reviews, I decided to give it a go. I was so nervous for my first lesson, but she made me feel comfortable and at ease the minute I walked through the door. She is educated and passionate about music. Also, she is extremely patient. I have been going to her for Piano Lessons now once a week for almost 6 months and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I absolutely, without a doubt, recommend Corinne. She's amazing!

Jennifer is great with my high-energy seven-year-old. She's very patient and she is able to make him engage. She also takes the skills he's learned in his music class in school, and builds his skills lessons around his abilities. Finally, she gives homework in a notebook that is clear and measurable, so he knows exactly what to do on his own throughout the week.

"Rebecca is a wonderful piano teacher and sweet person. Our daughter started lessons at 4 and 1/2 years old and Rebecca has been patient and caring and knows how to keep her engaged and having fun - while truly learning to read music, keep a beat and play her first songs. We've had just the best experience in every way.

Now 5, Anna enjoys going to lessons, she loves playing her songs for family and is beginning to get an appreciation for music, for learning and for what a little practice can do to improve her playing. We keep things fairly low key at home in terms of practice time since she is 4, and I want it to continue to be fun and for her to continue on with lessons as she gets older, but it amazes me what Rebecca has been able to teach her and how confident and proud she feels after her lessons.

We highly recommend Rebecca for any age!"

"The very first lesson was awesome! My 5 yo was already excited to learn piano, but after her lesson she is even more psyched to go again! Lisa taught on her level, made it fun with age-appropriate games, and really tailored the lesson to my child. I don't remember piano lessons as a child being that fun. So far I highly recommend her!"

"I had a musical background growing up. I played the piano and the cello for years and sang in several choirs. I also took piano lessons for a number of years as a young adult - but, when I came to Barbara, I hadn't touched a musical instrument for at least 3 decades. For me, what makes Barbara extraordinary as a teacher is that, even with all the musical background I have, she brings out music in me that I never knew was there - and we laugh a lot too - you can't do better than that!"

"Lana is my daughter's third (and hopefully last) piano teacher. Lana is the BEST instructor! She is loving (yet stern), positive, effective, and truly gets the best from her students.

My daughter has taken a keener interest in playing piano since being under Lana's tutelage (she has played for 7 years, this is her third year with Lana). Whether she's playing Beethoven, Chopin, John Legend or Joni Mitchell, Lana helps my daughter conquer her pieces with confidence and pride (once the pieces are learned).

We have had the old school, hard-core, drill sargeant type of teacher and the lackadaisical, low expectation and low output type of teacher. Lana is neither. Lana focuses on technique, reading music, musicality, presence, and instilling a love of music in her students. And she gets results. Not only has my daughter's skill level improved, her attitude toward piano has completely changed.

Any child would be lucky to have Lana as his/her teacher. We cannot recommend her highly enough!"

Why Are Piano Keys Arranged That Way?

When you look at the keys on a piano, a few things pop out right away. First, there are both white and black keys, and second, there is a distinct pattern that the keys on piano repeat. While most modern pianos contain 88 keys, you can find pianos with a shortened range, and even some that increase the number! But why, exactly, are the keys set up like that? We'll explore that in this article. Black and White Keys on Piano Pianos are arranged with white keys for the musical tones of A, B, C …
