About Jonathan
Hi, I'm Jonathan; I’m a trumpeter, composer and music educator from New York City. I have been working as a trumpeter, composer, arranger, and studio musician for almost 2 decades and have been teaching full-time for the past 7, which includes nearly 3 at the University level.
Most of the subjects I teach are music related, in which I have nearly 10 years of Conservatory training, a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, 2.5 years of Doctoral work, as well as over 17 years experience performing, recording, and competing on an international level. However, my interests, practices, and skillsets do extend beyond sound and visual art, and in the realm of philosophy, science, physics and spirituality.

However, my interests, practices, and skillsets do extend beyond sound and visual art, and in the realm of philosophy, science, physics and spirituality.
As an artist and composer, I’ve been recognized internationally, by way of several organizations: 1st place in the International Trumpet Gu
ild Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition, finalist in the Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition, recipient of the ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award, selected-participant at the Banff International Summer Intensive Program in Jazz and Creative Music and the School of Improvisational Music Summer Intensive Program, recipient of 5 Semi-Finalist selections and 1 finalist/honorable-mention selection in the International Songwriting Competition.
As an educator, I have taught all-level/all-age group music playing and appreciation courses for several New York-based organizations: The Afro-Latin Jazz Academy, The Gramercy Brass Orchestra of New York, New York Ensemble Classes, the Lyceum Kennedy International School, Jubilee Enrichment Programs, and The New York Jazz Academy. Currently, I am finishing 6 semesters of service as a Graduate Part-Time Instructor at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where I teach multiple ensembles as well as a 100+ student History of Jazz lecture class.
I have also been practicing various forms of meditation practices and Yoga practices for the past 5 years. My influences span from Astral Projection to Reiki, to Vipassana Meditation, to Visualization Techniques, and much more. I believe and live by the idea that creativity is an energy that flows through us, and one's creative abilities can be improved and expanded, through the emotional body, which is influenced by one's perceptions. Throughout my training in music and the arts, I have realized that creative flow and love for what one is and does can be applied to anything in life.
Because of my 7+ years experience as a professional artist living in New York City, my students receive both guidance in discovering their own voice and comfort within their desired field of practice, and also practical approaches to retain and utilize their training and pre-ordained skill sets, with self-application and diligence. Through study with me, my students enable themselves to swiftly make progress and move toward a life of renewed purpose and fulfilment. Through specific assignments, exercises, and practices my students foster a real relationship with their instruments, and themselves, thus unlocking their creative minds, for usage in all aspects of their lives.
I teach out of a my home apartment studio on the upper east side, complete with weighted 88-key digital piano, Bose high quality speakers, recording equipment, as well as musical media, and tablature spanning many musical genres, cultures and time periods. I also am equipped with a spacious floor space for Yoga, Pilates, Weight Lifting, Meditation, and more. Additionally, I am able to travel to any location within the five boroughs for an additional travel fee (TBD based on location).
While I specialize in the following broad areas of musical study, my specialties are not limited to: General Music, Composition, Arranging, Ear Training, Music History (includes classical, jazz, and world musics), Music Theory, Sight Singing, and Songwriting. I also specialize in the following instruments: Trumpet, flugelhorn, and Piano/Keyboards.
I look forward to helping you realize your potential! Let's get started...

About Deron
I am a San Diego native and have shown my paintings extensively throughout San Diego. It wasn't until several years after I graduated from UCLA in 1994 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts, that I really tried to show my work in galleries. Most recently, my work has been in shows at Project X Gallery, The Museum of the Living Artist, The San Diego Art Department, Sanctuary Gallery, Limbo Fine Arts, and Sushi Gallery. I have just started to show in other cities, most recently at the Rialto Theater in Corpus Christi, Texas and The Nico Gallery in Seattle, Washington.
Along with my painting career, I have created children’s book and magazine illustrations, done graphic design work, and taught others how to express themselves creatively through art. I have been creating curricula for children’s art programs and teaching them. I also have been te

I am often in front of 50+ people at a time presenting my painting techniques within a limited amount of time.
I look forward to coaching you whether you're someone who hasn't painted since you were a kid or you're a seasoned painter who just needs a little help, encouragement or direction.

A natural teacher at heart, I teach Piano, Visual Arts, and Yoga. I earned my Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Teaching and my California Teaching Credential in the Visual Arts and have been teaching professionally since 2012. I began playing the piano at age seven and advanced to honors recitals of Certificate of Merit through the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC). I have experience teaching ages 4-65 and beginning through early-intermediate levels. Beginners are my specialty and I currently teach 12 piano students a week. I use a variety of materials like flashcards and book series to teach classical, jazz, pop, and sacred styles: Alfred’s Basic Piano Library, Bastien Basics, Bastien & Bastien, Faber’s Piano Adventures, FunTime Faber & Faber, Piano for the Older Beginner, Alfred Masterworks, and Hal Leaonard Songs f

rom Disney. Students have the options of borrowing my used books or purchasing new books.
My new students love the patience and personalization that I bring to each lesson. I combine theory, technique, practice, rhythm (counting), vocabulary, and performance pieces. Demonstrating each piece, we often have fun singing along and adding games or flashcards to aid in understanding.
Students are expected to practice a minimum of an hour a week at home and schedule reoccurring lessons on this site. They have the chance to earn a stamp on their Piano Passport for completing each piece at 80 percent or better. Further, student receive awards for practice each week. These awards include a variety of stickers and breaks for Piano Tiles on my iPad.
I teach inside my home studio or at your home location, considering you have a piano or keyboard.
Visual Arts:
For four years I taught drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media to students from grades 5-12 at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, Torrey Pines High School, and Endeavour Academy. My lessons focused on individual creativity and learning about historical and cultural art techniques from around the world. Through the Language of Art, I taught the Elements (line, shape, form, value, space, color, and texture) as well as the Principles (balance, contrast, proportion, variety, unity, and gradation) in each art project. I encouraged every student to analyze their own artwork and the artwork of others through discussions and presentations. Today, I offer private art lessons to individuals of any age who would like to explore their creative side in their media of choice.
I teach inside my home studio or at your home location. Basic materials like paper and pencils are included. Students are expected to buy or pay for canvases, brushes, paints, etc.
Yoga:
When I first tried yoga, my fingertips were 6-8 inches from touching the ground. I learned that yoga is not for the flexible, but it is here to help us become more flexible, strong, and balanced as well as develop inner peace. Over the past 7 years, yoga has woven intricately into my life as I study and write about yoga philosophy.
In March 2015, I received my 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Certificate from Yoga One San Diego. I currently teach with yoga one and donation classes at Mission Bay Park. I’ve attended and taught at International Yoga Conventions and have led 3 local yoga wellness retreats and one international yoga pilgrimage in the summer of 2018. I emphasize the benefits of breathing with your movement, chakra energy, and alignment, and safety in getting into and out of poses. Hannah aspires to share her light and enthusiasm to anyone who is open.
I can teach yoga inside your home, yard, or in Balboa Park.
Combination Lessons
I also offer combination lessons. If you are interested in one hour of yoga and drawing or painting and piano, I’m happy to accommodate.

ABOUT MY PRIVATE LESSONS
I can help you improve your current level of Spanish, help your children with Spanish at school, or teach you Spanish from scratch!
⋆ LOCATIONS
I live in Bloomingdale and work in the DuPage county area. I meet most of my students in local coffee shops like Starbucks or Panera, but at-home lessons are possible as well.
⋆ LESSON FREQUENCY AND LENGTH
It would depend on your goals. School tutoring usually requires less time because Spanish at school is extremely basic and it’s doesn’t really lead to fluency in the language. Anything else needs a greater degree of commitment! I meet my students for one hour once or twice per week AT LEAST.
⋆ TEACHING METHOD
For school tutoring I try to adapt to your school’s method. For other types of lessons, I prefer avoiding translation and memorization and make use of effective Spanish textbooks, technology, games and free conversation.
⋆ SCHEDULE / AVAILABILITY
I mostly teach Monday-Friday afternoons and weekends in the morning.
⋆ RESCHEDULING / CANCELLATIONS / PUNCTUALITY
I understand flexibility is convenient and appreciated, so I allow rescheduling and cancellations in case of emergency or with enough advance notice. I recommend students to stick to their agreed schedule if they want to achieve their goals, even if that means to meet at another time during that same week. If I am already on my way to your lesson and you need to cancel, I will charge for the lesson. If you’re going to be late, please let me know, and I can’t guarantee that I can stay later than our scheduled time.
⋆ FIRST LESSON
During our first lesson we will take time to go over any important information, set our goals and answer questions regarding nature of our lessons. We can talk about fees and teaching materials during this lesson as well.
For any more details or any questions, please don’t hesitate contacting me!

About Edward
A little about myself.
I'm an artist, illustrator, and designer primarily. Born and raised in California in a desert but I love ice skating, swimming, and generally stuff you wouldn't find there.
Teaching's been a passion as I live for that a-ha moment of clarity and understanding. As a lifelong student, I hope to learn from my students as much as I instill into them.
