Experience
Instructor of Bassoon
Jul, 2016 - PresentUniversity of Connecticut
Bassoon teacher and reed-making instructor for music majors at the University of Connecticut. During lessons, we work on developing and enhancing musical ideas and address the technical challenges that are inherent in achieving those musical goals. We consider the use of dynamics, articulations, intonation, rhythm, vibrato, and tone color. I work on developing the fundamentals of bassoon playing, including scales, arpeggios, breath control, intonation, vibrato, varieties of articulations, double-tonguing and increasing the repertoire of fingerings necessary for tricky passages.
Coach
Jan, 2015 - PresentBoston Youth Symphony Orchestras
Bassoon sectionals coach for BYSO's Repertory Orchestra and Junior Repertory Orchestra. During the sectionals, we work on achieving the specific musical atmosphere through improving the use of dynamics, articulations, pitch, rhythm, vibrato, tone color and other similar aspects of performing music. I also make suggestions as to fingerings for tricky passages when it seems appropriate.
