Janet really put me at ease as I was a bit nervous. She identified areas where I was reasonably strong and areas where we should strive for improvement, and (what seemed to me) innovative ways to achieve improvement. I'm really looking forward to my next lesson!
Connor
My son loved his 1st lesson, and is looking forward to more.

Janet loves music, loves teaching, and loves people. You will not find a more dedicated and compassionate teacher of the arts. In the 14 years that I have known Janet, music, teaching, and family has been her priority. Her skills continuously grow as she has explored music in many different settings such as early childhood music, piano accompaniment, and choir singing.

I studied theory in College at Berklee College of Music.

About Albino

Albino was born in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, a country in southern Africa known for its rich musical and cultural heritage. Fueled by the resourcefulness and determination that have always characterized Mozambicans, he built his first guitar at 16 from a 5-liter can of oil, scrap wood, and

Albino - I just wanted to say thanks again so much for everything you did for me, I'm having so much fun recording. I just finished up my first track and was able to include guitars, bass, piano, drum and vocals, I can't believe how quickly you taught me all of this stuff. This is a huge improvement from where I was a few months ago. Thank you again!!!
Franny
Albino is an amazing teacher and musician. He has the ability to inspire you musically and make you feel very comfortable while doing it. He has taught me many new approaches, tips, and tricks to music theory. He has helped me to be able to really understand why things are the way they are, and not just figure things out on paper like an equation. Definitely the best tutor I've ever had! I'd highly recommend him.

My teaching is based on the Suzuki method, therefore I will focus heavily on technique. In my opinion, an excellent foundation in technique will be the quickest way for a student to play major pieces by Bach and Mozart, to name a few.

About Ramiro

I am the right teacher for a student or parent who knows that progress is not overnight, and understanding that taking the time to learn to play the violin correctly is much more rewarding than trying to play a piece that is too advanced.

Music has an uncanny ability to communicate without words the often indescribable. Whether you are looking to start the violin for the first time or are picking it up again after a "sabbatical" I'd love to come alongside this journey and work with you, your child, or for that friend of yours you've recently convinced to play again. I believe that a solid foundation and technical mastery widens the artistic palette of expression; giving the player the freedom to take their art in any direction they desire.

This space is not nearly enough to express the amazing encounters that my family has had and continues to have with David France. Our son started with a 30 minute weekly lesson on the violin under David at the very tender age of 2 1/2. Knowing the short attention span of a child that age, David used his creativity to keep him engaged during lessons, practice while at home and to keep returning each week for more lessons. One technique that he employed was a recorded message to play at home to motivate him to practice; all we had to do was play his recorded message & watch our son run to pick up his violin to start his practice.

We can proudly say that he is now almost 13 years old and continues to progress on the violin and is a member in 2 Senior Orchestras here in Bermuda. He is the recipient of several music awards, including a scholarship and an Honorary Music Scholar Award.

It was a very big loss for us when David departed Bermuda but always look forward to him returning as part of the faculty for the special BRAVO! violin camp. He is very inspirational, kind and generous with his ears & time and is a great role model. We're very fortunate that he continues to be a part of our son's violin journey.

We can honestly say that thanks to David, our son is still loving his violin and musical journey!

I had the honor of joining the Roxbury youth orchestra of Boston in 2016. David was always so constructive and was always helping us to be the best player we could be. Every lesson had structure, and he would move us along once we mastered basic skills and prerequisite goals. Of course, it was challenging, but he allowed us to make mistakes so we can learn from them.

David is an amazing teacher and human being! My kids got off to the best start ever because of his careful and conscientious teaching. Even though we are in different states now, he still keeps in touch and is always there for my kids. Because of his help and encouragement, my son just won the Sphinx! You couldn't ask for a better teacher!

"I write contemporary Christian and inspirational music. Mimi was great and helped me with my song melody's and structure. She was very encouraging, and knowledgeable. Showed me how to change the melody in the bridge to make my song stronger. I am pitching songs to have them recorded by Christian artist. I think one of the songs we worked on has good chance of being recorded. Thank you Mimi. Will come back for more sessions."

"At 61 years old I wanted a challenge, and that was to learn how to play the bass guitar. Having had absolutely no previous training, and being quite terrified, James gave me the confidence that this was possible to achieve.

His knowledge to teach a simple approach in the theory of music, his patience, and ability to instruct in a way that makes sense, made learning exciting for me.

Highly recommend him to anyone who is interested in going beyond what they think they're capable of in a caring one on one environment. :)"

"About five years ago I returned to the piano after years of neglect. One lucky day I happened upon a lovely teacher by the name of Fawn. She has taught me so many things, including learning to practice better/more efficiently which was exactly what I needed. Fawn advocates a relaxed, yet strict technique (and I really needed to learn to relax when playing, but also learn to be more disciplined). After studying with her for almost a year and a half my hands are much more relaxed and I'm playing more musically—she's helping me reverse 60 years of bad habits. She's found the secrets and knows how to teach them. Highly recommended."

Blues Guitar Basics: How to Play a Blues Shuffle

Ready to learn to play blues guitar? This lesson from guitar teacher James W. is the perfect place to start... What is a shuffle, anyway? A shuffle is a rhythm of 8th notes played in triplets, essentially playing 3/4 time over a 4/4 beat to make the music swing. Blues, pop, jazz, and rock musicians all use the shuffle. The blues shuffle is a fun pattern that is simple to absorb into your playing across many genres of music. Think of pop, rock, big band, and blues as being a part of the s …
