I am a Native English Speaker from America and I am TEFL certified. I am passionate about Teaching English and learned first hand what it was like to learn a new language in Taiwan and practiced speaking Spanish in Mexico. I know what it is like from your perspective as a student. I also know what I would want to be treated like if I was in your shoes. Living overseas and travelling to several countries around the world taught me what it is like to be the one that needed to learn the native language of that land.
I have taught some kids as young as 4 and on up to 16 years of age. I am approachable, fun, creative and patient. Patience is key when teaching English and I have a lot of patience.
My philosophy is that people are like plants. There are three conditions that help a plant to grow. Soil, water and sunlight. Good soil means someone who is willing to receive instruction, coaching, and allow me as a teacher to help empower you as a student to meet your English goals. The water is like the words, vocabulary and grammar. However, too much water just like a flood, can drown a plant. In the same way, if there is too much pressure put on you as a student to learn, you will lose that passion because you would not be able to grow at your own pace. My job is not to make you grow, to aid your growth. Lastly, sunlight is like the moment where you have let the words soak into your mind and now you see it in your imagination. Now the light has come and you can think for yourself in English because you let the words, the grammar exercises, and the practice become a part of your daily life.
If you like that philosophy, come and book a lesson with me and I can show you the best way to learn English!
