Violin with Tristan N.

I'm a classical violin/viola teacher, working with all ages. I've studied viola performance at Northwestern's Bienen School of Music, one of the top conservatories in the country. I have studied violin for around 17 years. Spending that much time around teachers, I've picked up a few teaching techniques here and there. When I'm working with both kids and adults, I joke around and work with a positive attitude, providing a gentle path for the student to go down rather than playing for them. My goal is to teach my students how to practice rather than having the practice done in the lesson. Learning a musical instrument is a great tool at any age. When I teach my students how to play, I'm also teaching them how to learn. This not only helps with violin, but for all areas of academic life. It makes you more active and engaged in the music you listen to, and provides a great skill to show off when applying to university. It's a very beneficial skill, and I am very happy to share my knowledge with anyone who wants to learn.
