*** Lesson Details *** As a private music instructor for the past 15 years, I personally have been granted the opportunity to teach a wide variety of music students. I have taught students ranging in age from 6 to 65. I have taught students from various ethnic and economic backgrounds. I have taught students with various physical, emotional, and learning disabilities. Regardless of the situation, I have always approached each lesson with the idea that every student deserves my best efforts as a teacher. This is because I believe that everyone, regardless of age, cultural heritage, ability, or financial circumstance deserve the opportunity to participate in the best music experiences possible.
I believe that everyone has the ability to learn to play a musical instrument and achieve success on it if they possess the desire to do so. This is because music is a vital part of the human experience. Music has the ability to turn ordinary life experiences into extraordinary ones. Think of everyday events such as: waking up in the morning, commuting to and from work or school, going through the work or school day, going to dinner with a friend or loved one, going to a sporting event, watching a movie or television show, or working out at the gym. Now, picture what these everyday events would be like without the presence of music. Without music, these experiences would be extremely dull and we as human beings would not be able to full appreciate the wonderful moments in our lives.
As a music educator, my promise is to guide my students through the journey of learning to play music so they can experience the joy that it brings into their lives and the lives of others. I promise to help my students realize their full musical potential. I will always treat each student equally with fairness and respect, provide the best possible atmosphere for their growth, and recognize that each student is unique in how they learn and grow.

Excellent lesson. Does a wonderful job at taking older students and gently holding their feet to the fire to bring out the best- even under the most challenging of circumstances. Kudos to being such a uniquely great teacher!

I realize it was the first lesson but I was a little disappointed that we spend nearly the entire time on housekeeping items, like canceling and re-scheduling appointments. I think that could have been covered with an e-mail or handout. I also thought we spent too much time going over the differences between acoustic and electric guitars - considering my age and background. Would have liked to see him demonstrate what I was asked to practice before the next lesson instead of just being told to refer to the workbook.

Dave had a relaxed informative approach, a knowledgeable teacher who took his time with me, a real novice.
I love playing and teaching violin and can't wait to share my passion with you!
I tailor my approach to each student. Some students require more technical work, some require interpretive. Both are fascinating and can be taught with structure and clarity.
Hi! My name is Martina and I am a classically trained violist. For my background, I received a Master of Music from Roosevelt University, where I studied with Lawrence Neuman of the Chicago Symphony. I received an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin with Sally Chisholm of the Pro Arte quartet.
The only thing I love more than playing viola is sharing the joy of music with others! I've received training on violin and viola and can't wait to start teaching you or your child.
*** Lesson Details *** I tailor my approach to each student to make sure that: 1.) The student is getting exactly what he/she wants out of the lessons. 2.) The lessons are an appropriate difficulty for the student. 3.) A student's strengths and weaknesses are being addressed with a tailor-made lesson plan and long-term goals.
Travel Equipment *** I can provide a stand. Student is responsible for purchasing an instrument, and any sheet music. I can definitely advise on an instrument to purchase and will instruct with specific music requests.
I strive to create an environment in which students are inspired to discover, create, learn, express themselves and have fun. I focus on strengthening students' foundational techniques, through scales, etudes and other materials and then applying those skills in pieces and songs that are designed to build a good basis of musical knowledge, helping students to become confident in their musical abilities.
I strive to create an environment in which students feel comfortable to learn, experiment, and express themselves and in which they look forward to coming every week.
*** Travel Equipment *** I can provide music and other items needed for the instrument (shoulder rests, strings, rosin, etc) but will need to be reimbursed.
I can also provide a music stand at the lessons
*** Specialties *** I specialize in classical music and technique
Brittany is very well prepared for our lessons. She's very encouraging and although I've only had two lessons, I've learned a lot and she gives me plenty of exercises to do on my own to improve as well.

Best violin teacher! She is very passionate and really into how to help different individuals learn better! I learned a lot from her!

Brittany is one of the most enthusiastic and encouraging violin teachers I've ever met. I look forward to my next lesson!
I like making music fun. With the knowledge that playing an instrument is very difficult, my approach to teaching is to make each task seem as easy as possible. I promote the art of listening to music just as much as playing the notes on the page. I incorporate all the important aspects of violin playing: posture, sight-reading, technique, scales, and musicality to turn all my students into the best musicians they can be!
My name is Annarita and I am a violinist from Des Plaines, Illinois. I began playing at the age of seven, and by the time I was in high school I realized I wanted to make playing and teaching violin my career.
In 2013, I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in music from Loyola University Chicago. During my college career I had the opportunity to spend a semester in Vienna, Austria to expand my knowledge of the classical music world.
In 2010, I began playing with the Fox Valley Orchestra - an ensemble of which I am still a part and consider my second home. I also perform regularly with the Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra, Stargate Productions, as well as the string orchestra at Northeastern Illinois University. In 2015 I had the opportunity to perform with Rod Stewart...one of my favorite memories!
Besides my passion for perf
orming, I also very much love teaching. I worked with The People's Music School and with the Chicago Metamorphosis Orchestra Project in Chicago as a violin teacher and ensemble coach. I also teach a wide range of private students.
*** Lesson Details *** 1. I set goals with my students and give them the tools they need in order to reach them. -I focus a lot on note reading, music theory, practice techniques, and bodily awareness to ensure each student understands every aspect of their instrument and music 2. I explain how the assigned studies will help improve students' overall ability to play the violin -I'm not a "spoon-feeder" - I teach my students how to teach themselves and think independently! 3. I keep my lessons at an appropriate difficulty for each student. 4. Most importantly, I teach students how to practice efficiently and with patience. Improvement does not happen overnight; but with a little focus and patience, it will come a lot sooner than you think!
*** Travel Equipment *** Students must have an instrument, music stand, assigned music, and a metronome if necessary.

Lipeng is very patient and encouraging for my beginner 11-year-old, using the video format well to demonstrate the songs and watch the student. She has been a good fit for a player who is motivated to improve but can complain a little bit about practicing everyday.
March 7, 2017
Very first lesson with Lipeng and I enjoyed it so very much. Lipeng encourages to listen to the music and then accentuate the notes to make it music, not to simply play them.

Mrs. Ada received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance and Teaching from the Music College at Moscow State Conservatory.
She went on to receive her Master’s degree in Music Performance and Teaching from the Russian Gnesins’ Academy of Music.
Mrs. I has experience performing, teaching and conducting at various music schools and orchestras in Moscow and in the Chicago area. This includes positions at the Suzuki Academy in Chicago, Village Music Guild of Chicago, Walther Lutheran High School, Little Lambs Scholastic Academy in Chicago and Creative World Montessori School in LaGrange. Mrs. I is a member of the Illinois Music Association. She currently owns a music studio where she teaches private lessons in piano and stringed instruments.
Ada is wonderful! I took lessons with her for a while and I thought her teaching style was great. I felt like I learned a lot from her in a short time. I had to quit piano for a while as I'm too busy but when my kids get older I want to start up with her again. Currently my 5 year old daughter takes piano from her and loves her. Ada is a great combination of very kind, but also disciplined. My daughter looks forward to her lessons with Ada every week! I would recommend her highly!

My son has been taking lessons from Mrs Ada for two years. We really appreciate how she helps him excel and inspires him to do a piece well. He has also enjoyed the many opportunities to perform publicly. I would recommend Mrs Ada.

My daughter is 14yr old and is passionate about music. Finding Mrs. Ignatov has been a blessing. In the past year and a half, my daughter's technique (bowing, phrasing, intonation) has improved vastly under her instruction.
She cares about her students and wants them to achieve their goals/dreams. My daughter made the CYSO's Philharmonic Orchestra in her first year of auditioning, all thanks to the guidance of Mrs. Ignatov and her attentiveness to details!
If you or your child love music and wish to achieve your full potential, Mrs. Ignatov will help you get there.
Learn to play violin in whatever style you want -- Jazz, Bluegrass, Classical, you name it! I have more than 4 years of experience performing in versatile ensembles all around Chicago, everywhere from Symphony Center to the Green Mill Jazz Club. I also have more than 6 years of teaching experience with students of all ages. Lessons are completely customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. My utmost goal in teaching is to help students develop a unique musical voice!
I am a professional violinist... and fiddle player! I graduated from Roosevelt University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance.
My students can expect to improve week to week in their violin technique and overall musicianship. Every student is interested in different types of music; I teach students to apply foundational techniques in order to unlock their own individual sound in whatever style they choose.
I teach students of all different ages and experience levels. I have studied classical violin for 14 years, and jazz fiddle for 7 years. I can teach students to read music and pursue classical excellence, but also how to perform alternative styles such as jazz or bluegrass either by ear or by using chord sheets and transcriptions.
As a professional violinist, I currently spend most of my time playing with the Civi
c Orchestra of Chicago. In the past, I have also been fortunate enough to work with amazing ensembles such as the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic and the Millennial Chamber Players. I have performed in jazz combos at iconic Chicago venues such as the Jazz Showcase and the Green Mill. I also regularly play around the city with the bluegrass band Android Mandela and the Spanish rock band Calaveras LD.
Music is everything to me, and I bring the same energy and passion to my teaching that I bring to my creative music making!
Learning an instrument is no easy feat, but having the right plan, structure, and support makes all the difference. My teaching philosophy is designed to meet each student where they are, with a custom approach tailored to their individual needs.
I take time to get to know my students - how they practice, why they pursue their instrument, what their goals are, and who they really are as people. What is it that they truly need right now? Is it a practice schedule, or just some gentle encouragement? A new song to freshen things up, or a tough lesson about persistence? A conversation about homework, or a story to lighten the mood and bring some laughter into the music? As an experienced teacher, I know how big of a difference it makes to really understand the needs of a student.
I work with beginner, intermediate, and advanced students of all ages. I have experience with all major string curricula, as well as my own conservatory-trained approach. I have taught over 100 students in ...
I take time to get to know my students, and I meet them where they are.
"Nicole is patient, kind, knowlegeable and direct. Very Good Teacher."
"She is very kind, and professional. And she really understood how to teach my son!"
Our daughter had a previous violin instructor for 3 years and had a great foundation. However, we knew it was time to take her to the
next level with technique and note reading. Nicole is very knowledgeable about violin technique, its history, and about music. My daughter has grown tremendously. Her intonation, note reading confidence, and rhythm has greatly improved. She has a new found excitement for her instrument again!"
"Very good. Got right down to business. I started the lesson not knowing how to use rosin and ended being able to play a song. Looking forward to improving."
"One lesson with Susanna and I'm sold! So excited for our future sessions together."
Levi, David & Jeremiah
"Sepehrdad is great! Our three boys really enjoy his teaching approach which is encouraging yet challenges growth. We are delighted and feel blessed that
we found him to teach our children in our home!"
"Susanna is truly amazing. She is highly knowledgeable, patient, attentive to details, and is able to customize each of her lessons depending on her studen
ts performance. She is very good at showing support and encouraging her students to deliver their best performance in every lesson. She is also quite flexible and understanding with lessons scheduling, and generally a very pleasant person to talk to. I highly recommend her as a teacher!"
"Jonathan is a great teacher! I had my very first violin lesson with him, and he made me feel like I can actually learn how to play this instrument."
