Drum Lessons with local Brooklyn drummer Tom Criblez
Hey there!
My name is Tom C. and I am a Brooklyn based musician. I am mainly a drummer, but also a guitarist. The way I typically structure my lessons is based on what the student is looking to learn and accomplish. However, I also have certain methods of teaching that include how to properly, physically drum and perform in order to avoid injury later in life, lots of chop building that is usually taught and practiced on a drum pad, some reading if the student is open to it because I believe it is a good way to latch on to rhythmic concepts, building a close relationship with a metronome, exploring the foundations and basics of grooves in whatever genres the student is looking to tackle and always leave room for something fun like learning a song or writing a part. I am also open to talking about what it means to be a drummer in different environments like bands or being independent or recording and the fundamentals in how to approach like getting good sounds or how to prepare for a 10 hour studio marathon. I have tons of experience in performing, writing and recording drum parts, as well as, writing songs! I also am fluent in Ableton live and can teach how to program beats and incorporate that type of drumming into your repertoire. I run my lessons out of my studio in my apartment in Bed-Stuy. I also perform in multiple bands in the area if you want to check out my music online :) Hope to hear from ya soon!

Hey!
It's always funny to write about yourself, but here we are! I am a drummer/guitarist living in Brooklyn, NY. I have toured the country twice with my band Ritual Talk on 6 week tours that we booked ourselves. I love to connect and make music with people from anywhere and of all types of genres. I also love to cook and read and do pretty much anything in nature. I believe in there being no right way to do something and to listen to the student and learn from them as much as they learn from me. I am very self aware and believe in self care and building emotional maturity in all the ways. Compassion is a much needed skill in music all around and I hope to continue to spread it as a teacher who loves music so much :) My apartment is beautiful and I live with my brother and high school best friend from home. Both are wonderful humans and music lovers themselves. Let's play some drums and cultivate an open, welcoming environment :)
