    About Taurees H.

For almost a decade, I have worked as music teacher, performer, audio engineer, and producer. I am incredibly fortunate to have had the chance to work with some of the biggest names in the music industry. As a former engineer for Interscope Records, I have worked on recording sessions for the likes of Dr. Dre, Lady Gaga, and Weezer. I have also produced a number of independent artists, and currently work as an engineer for Hans Zimmer. As a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music, I studied guitar and music production, and have worked with students whose goals vary from the casual hobbyist, to those with professional ambitions. *** Lesson Details *** My students go through an engaging study of technique, theory, ear training, composition, and musicianship. Each student learns differently, and each student has different goals. I tailor my class in a way that is fun and helps the student best absorb the concepts being taught. With my guitar students, I like to challenge them in a variety of genres, while giving them the freedom to explore the ones that capture their interest the most. For music production students, I like to use examples from music the student listens to in order to illustrate musical concepts, while exposing them to new creative ideas. With all of my students, my primary goal is to help them establish a sense of their own musical identity. Ultimately, the study of any skill is about more than just acquiring knowledge, and music is no different. Studying an instrument promotes a healthy work ethic, and reinforces the idea that what you get out of something is a result of the effort you put in. Playing music with others also helps develop strong communication skills and teamwork. At the end of it all however, what is most important to me is that my students have fun. *** Studio Equipment *** Guitars: Custom '88 Telecaster, Custom Stratocaster, SX-335 Copy, ESP MH-250nt Amp: Custom Modified Epiphone Tube Amp Production Gear: Pro Tools 10, Ableton Live, GarageBand, Yamaha NS-10 Studio Monitors, Multi-Track I/O, and a large mic collection. *** Travel Equipment *** I am able to travel to your home for lessons. I also have my own teaching space that you are welcome to travel to. *** Specialties *** With technology making home studios ever more affordable, a lot of musicians are recording, mixing, and mastering their own demos and albums. While the technology becomes easier to use, having a certain basic understanding of recording and production can go a long way towards making that home studio recording stand out. I specialize in teaching quick and effective production and engineering methods, many of which are used by some of the leading producers in the industry.
