I am a college student studying trombone performance at West Virginia University. I have been playing the trombone for 7 years now and have participated in school band, honor bands, youth orchestras, chamber ensembles, and other such activities over the course of those years. I feel that I can benefit students because I have first hand experience working with some of the best trombone teachers around, and I have learned a lot about playing and teaching from those experiences. I teach in the Northern VA area over the summer and in Morgantown, WV during the school year.
*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching style and the curriculum I use will depend on each individual student's goals and skill level. I know that some students need a strict teacher who will push them to improve quickly, while others just want to learn a little bit and have fun taking lessons. For younger students I like to use the Rubank methods, but we will also incorporate warmups and other exercises.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to provide their instrument, music (I will provide music until the student orders the neccssary material), music stand, and tools for taking care of their instrument. I bring my own intrument to demonstrate and any new materials that might be neccessary.
*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical music, although I have enough experience to teach other genres at beginning to intermediate levels.
