My name is Sean and I am from Chicago, IL. I have lived here for 5 years and am excited to build a studio of passionate students. I have been playing violin since I was 10 and viola since high school. I attended Ball State University (Muncie, IN) and graduated in 2007 with my Bachelor of Music in Symphonic Instruments (Viola Performance). I graduated VanderCook College of Music (Chicago, IL) with my Master in Music Education in 2012. My education has brought me many opportunities to be a teacher and a leader. I am the Viola Teaching Artist and String Conductor at the Chicago Metamorphosis Orchestra Project at Mary Lyon Elementary School. I have a passion for teaching viola and violin, as well as teaching strings. I also play viola for multiple orchestras including the Southwest Michigan Symphony (3rd chair viola) and the Lake Forest Civic Orchestra (1st chair Viola). I have also played violin and viola with the Chicago Composers Orchestra, which plays only music by living composers. All of these experiences have helped shape me into the teacher that I am today! *Lesson Details* 1. Materials needed are: Instrument, pencil, music, music stand. 2. My job as a musician is to pass the art of music to the next generation through mindful and thoughtful study all while creating new and exciting experiences.

Mr. Diller has a fantastic teaching technique with his students. As a colleague of his, I enjoy watching Mr. Diller teach and see his students benefit and expand their musical ability while laughing and having fun.

Mr Diller showcases exceptional musicianship, a positive and engaging rapport with youth, and he supports and inspires students of all ages to be the best they can be. He exhibits contagious enthusiasm for his students and their instruments and for expression and meaningful music making. Mr. Diller knows that while skills and technique are crucial, there is no substitution for creativity, connection and emotionally invested expression.
