I was lucky to take lessons with Marisa for two years during my undergraduate music degree at CU Boulder. Not only is Marisa a wonderful and knowledgeable violinist, she is a intuitive and warm teacher. Marisa took my musicality to the next level and helped me develop proper, tension-free technique. Marisa's advice helped me to practice more effectively on my own, and I always felt inspired after our lessons. I would highly recommend Marisa as a teacher for violinists of any level!

Dr Marisa has been teaching me for three years now. She is very good at explaining the pieces, and giving a short history lesson about how it was developed. This helps me learn and memorize the piece faster for recitals and performances. Despite the setbacks of COVID-19, she has still continued being an excellent teacher for me.

Throughout my entire music experience, Marisa is one of the best violin teachers I've ever had. She taught me how to listen and improve the sound I was producing, correct my bow hold, overcome my performance anxiety, and much more. I would highly recommend Marisa, no matter what your experience is with the violin.

Online teaching is a huge challenge, but Dr. Ishikawa manages to teach over Zoom very enjoyably and productively. She's warm, welcoming, and interested in getting to know you, so connecting with her is easy even over video. She's also very precise, descriptive, and demonstrates/plays very well so it's easy to understand how to accomplish things even without physical contact.

I watched Dr. I. teach and was amazed at what an empathic and intuitive teacher she is. It seems that for every student she is able to modify and alter her approach to fit the personality and experience of the student, making it truly a tailored-for learning experience. Her expertise is obvious but it was nice to see how positive and encouraging she was.

Marisa is by far one of the best teachers I have ever worked with! I was very fortunate to get to work with Marisa during my undergraduate degree while she worked as a Teaching Assistant at CU Boulder. Marisa has an exceptional understanding of the fundamentals of violin along with an informed and intuitive sense of musicality. She was always able to give specific practice techinques that advanced my techincal playing while enhancing the musicality and phrasing of whatever piece I was working on. I was always perfectly encouraged and challenged in lessons with Marisa. I can confidently say that Marisa had an imense positive impact on my playing, and I would whole-heartedly recommend her for all students looking for high quality instruction!
