    I am a professional oboist who was born and raised in Alaska, but relocated to Cleveland 10 years ago. I received my Bachelors Degree in oboe from Baldwin Wallace, Masters in oboe from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and an Artist Diploma from Oberlin Conservatory. I currently perform and teach in the Northeast Ohio area, as well as teaching online. I am a member of several orchestras in the Midwest and perform as a substitute with the Cleveland Orchestra. In 2017, I was given the honor to perform with them on a tour throughout Europe. I am very passionate about teaching, and love working with students of all levels. My students range in age from 5 years old to retirement. I meet each of my students where they are, and strive to challenge them exactly as they need. In addition to teaching private lessons, I also teach sectionals at many local schools and an oboe pedagogy course at my alma mater. Aside from playing and teaching oboe, I enjoy spending time outside (especially at home in Alaska!), yoga, and paleo cooking.

    Justine has really helped me throughout this year, especially since it’s my first year and I had a hard time getting used to the instrument. Shes really good with teaching and has continuously helped me to learn new things.

    I am the Director of Bands for the Medina City School System and I serve over 800+ band students from 6th grade through 12th grade. Justine has been teaching oboe lessons for the oboe students in our band program for a number of years now. She is an extremely pleasant and polite individual to work with professionally. All of the students I have spoken with regarding their lessons with Justine cannot sing her praises enough!! In their lessons Justine is kind and abundantly knowledgeable. Justine provides sound pedagogical advice rooted in her deep understanding of music and her own outstanding musicianship!!! Oboe students are very fortunate to study with someone like Justine. I know as a band director, I am very fortunate to have such a person supplementing our student's music learning.
