SUMMARY I'm dedicated to mentoring the next generation of influential artists. With a focus on the mentoring of students, as opposed to a conventional method of teaching, I like to develop more than just an understanding of music within my students. I enjoy working closely with each student to help them develop an understanding of themselves and help them learn how to apply that understanding musically. I always put the needs of my students first. Whether it's staying late to help the student understand the lesson being taught, offering advice and presence to assist a student in overcoming the nerves of a first performance, or being there to listen when personal struggles arise, I offers far more than just an understanding of notes and rhythm. I offer an understanding of what it takes to make personal, sincere music that touches the lives of others, an understanding of music as a business and knowledge on how to make it in the industry, and of course, exceptional understanding of the principles and fundamentals of music. I firmly believe in finding the prodigy within every student. BIOGRAPHY I've been teaching professionally since 1995. Before choosing a career in education, I was a founding member of the internationally renown post-grunge rock band Strange Occurrence. We went on numerous national tours and our music peaked at #6 on Radio and Records reporting chart for our genre. As a music producer, a live and studio session musician, and a singer/songwriter, my work has appeared on quite a few records as well as on film. My current work as an internet guitar tutor has made me the most-viewed internet guitar educator in the Western Hemisphere. I've worked with numerous programs bringing music education to the Seattle area including the city of Redmond, Rock School, the city of Auburn, and The Rock n' Roll Conservatory. As well as being an educator for these programs, I've also managed rock-themed summer camps, booked teen-oriented rock concerts for the city of Auburn, and mentored young rock bands into regional success. *** Lesson Details *** You can expect our lesson-time to be fun and interesting, custom tailored to your needs and goals. I understand that different students with different aspirations will put different amounts of dedication into their instrument so you'll never be judged for prioritizing your life over your homework. Lessons will be engaging, challenging, personable, and best of all... fun! *** Specialties *** I specialize in songwriting and self expression. I am comfortable with multiple genres of music including pop, country, blues rock, grunge, alternative, and folk.

Outstanding I was only able to take a few lessons from Joe because of an upcoming military deployment. In the few weeks that I had, I made great strides and I feel went from being an extreme beginner a low level intermediate guitar player. Joe has an incredible ability of breaking things down in a way that are easy for the student to understand and is very focused on helping you meet your goals! I would absolutely recommend Joe to anyone! Outstanding dude!!

The man, the myth, the legend, Joe W. I have been taking lessons with Joe since 2010 and I don't know anyone who is better than this guy. Because of a car accident I was in I don't have fully functioning fingers sometimes. Joe was so patient and kind with me. He is always pushing me to take chances and try new things. After 3 years I am able to play the guitar, sing, play for church events, transposing, and entertain the masses!! Joe has helped me arrange music for weddings, holidays, etc. Joe is seriously the best of the best. I drive an hour every week just to take lessons, because he is that good.

Great Teacher! My son has been taking lessons with Joe for over 5 years. Joe is a wonderful teacher. We truly couldn't ask for a better fit for him. He is fun and also expects him to do his work. My son has Asperger's so teaching can be a challenge. Joe has learned exactly how my son learns and by not expecting him to understand and learn exactly the same way as others, I feel like T has learned SO much. I would highly recommend Joe to anyone I know that wants a good experience to learn music and be passionate about it as well.
