Hello, friends! I am an oboist living in the Charlotte area (my house is in Concord). I am a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, where I received my Master's Degree in Oboe Performance. Prior to Peabody, I received my Bachelor's degree in Music Performance at Appalachian State University in the small town of Boone, North Carolina.
I have been teaching students for many years now, and my students have ranged from 5 years old to 18 years old.
I believe that it is crucial for students to be completely comfortable with their teachers. I know what it's like to be under a great deal of stress while practicing or performing - it can cause unnecessary and harmful tension in the body and flaws in the performance. Because of this, you can expect me to be very kind and encouraging in my lessons. Music comes from the heart! I make sure my students have fun while also making progress throughout the year. One unique thing about my method of teaching is that I love to compose music for my students. I take notice of their strengths and weaknesses each week and apply them to our new weekly exercises. I can also make reeds for my students if needed!
I hope to hear from you soon,
