    About Jarrod B.

Hi there, and welcome! My name is Jarrod and I'm a professional musician and educator based in Upstate New York. I currently serve as Principal Tuba of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and the Des Moines Metro Opera, and am constantly playing with professional groups all over the Northeast. My roots are in music education and I've been teaching for the past 8 years. I've worked with private low brass students of all ages and abilities, and also teach masterclasses and work with large groups at colleges, universities, public schools, and more. I grew up very involved in the marching arts and marched two years of Drum Corps International with the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps. Since then, I've taught drum corps for many years, working with world class DCA and DCI groups. I truly love teaching and my philosophy of teaching is to use my skills and knowledge to help you achieve your musical goals. The most important part of music is playing music! My goal is simply to provide you with the techniques and guidance to support you in doing that. Throughout my career I've gotten to work with and learn from some of the best musicians in the world, and I bring all of that knowledge straight to my students in our lessons. I specialize in brass playing and breathing pedagogy and have a large focus on developing fundamentals that are crucial for every player, beginner to professional. I hope that I can help you in your musical journey and look forward to working together!
