I have been playing music since I was nine but my musical life really picked up the tempo in middle school and high school when I got involved in two youth praise bands. I was traditionally trained in violin for six years but I decided that although I love learning music, I dislike traditional music lessons. I decided not to take lessons for other instruments but taught myself by watching friends and YouTubers. From this experience, my specific teaching method was created! I have taken the best of what I have learned from traditional lessons, self education, and college, and simplified it to get you playing more songs, more simply, in less time! I like to say, the first word in 'Playing Music" is "Playing!" If you are not having fun – you're doing it wrong. We learn better when we are enjoying ourselves and having fun. The only reason we still have music today is because people love to play and sing together. After all, the first word in "playing music" is "playing." This is my teaching method. The thing that sets my style apart from other teachers, is that I play along with my students. This helps them relax, train their ear, and smooth out their playing for a more enjoyable learning experience. My teaching style is perfect for absolute beginners or for experienced musicians wanting to learn chording or improvisation. I don't teach you to be a student, I teach you to become a musician!
