About Jack E.
5.0
(3)
Jack is a gifted guitar player with lots of teaching experience and a terrific point of view.
Born and raised in Scotland, Jack started playing guitar at age 14 and fell in love with bands such as Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, and the Foo Fighters. Once he heard guitar virtuoso Steve Vai for the first time, that changed everything. Jack went on to attend a music school in Glasgow. During his time there he performed regularly in various bands playing rock, pop, and funk music, as well as teaching guitar on the side.
Jack recently graduated from Berklee College of Music, and hopes to write music for video games while continuing to teach guitar. As he says, “Teaching is so rewarding. My main goal is that students keep coming back because they’re having fun and feel rewarded too.”

Jack is an incredible teacher! I was nervous and a little self conscious about my basic guitar playing skills in the beginning but he made me feel extremely comfortable and built my confidence in my skills. He refined my basics and would emphasize focus on me enjoying my playing but also enjoying the theoretical knowledge. He has an incredible sense of humor so the class environment was always positive and encouraging. Highly recommend Jack!

There is something about self doubt that really makes it hard to learn a new instrument, especially when you’re not a middler schooler. As a current college student in Boston, I’ve always wanted to learn how to play guitar (something about my ukulele just bored me at this point). When I looked for guitar clubs on campus, it turned out that every other member not only knew how to play guitar but also was really good at it too. Bummed there wasn’t a “beginner guitar newbie club” on campus, I turned to guitar schools around Boston. A lot of them dumbed down the guitar to a point where it felt condescending (ex: making up names for strings instead of learning notes). Discouraged, I searched online and happened upon Jack! His Scottish accent wasn’t the only thing that caught my attention, this guy can really shred! He manages to make you feel comfortable and never makes me feel dumb when I make a mistake or ask a question. He is the first guitar teacher in Boston, anyway, to actually show me how to be comfortable and confident with my instrument, even from the beginning.
