Meghan dove right into the lesson, customizing it at the perfect level for our daughter's experience. We liked that she was prepared and maximized the time. She has a youthful personality and knowledge of pop songs which is a great personality fit with our 13 year old daughter. She also customized the lesson and song choice in a way that would appeal to my daughter. My daughter is actually excited to take lessons and is already planning her list of songs she wants to learn.

i am very new to singing and she totally made it a no pressure environment. she also made me feel empowered to try and explore exercises and techniques.

I will show you how to play songs, chords, and lead riffs right away. My lessons will also explain theoretical concepts to illuminate your songwriting, improvisation, and jamming. I have extensive experience with audio production and am more than happy to incorporate that into the lesson. My studio in Brooklyn has a private yard where lessons can be given while following social distancing guidelines. I am flexible regarding what students want out of their lessons. If you want to write music, I can help you write, record, and publish songs to streaming services. If you want to play in a band, I can arrange for jam sessions with other musicians.

About Eamon

I grew up in New York City and have been playing in bands since 2nd grade. I have a bachelors in music from NYU Steinhardt, I took AP music theory at Trinity High School in NYC, and I have completed composition programs at The Mannes School of Music. In addition to guitar, I play piano, sing, and

Finished my first lesson with Eamon. I am a complete beginner, never took any lessons or anything. Ramon is great! After doing some exercises and sounding completely horrible, he gave me some pointers and immediately I sounded much better. He is great for anyone who is looking to learn a new skill and you can tell he knows what he is doing

Charles has been my teacher for a few weeks now and I am so happy I found him on takelessons. He is an amazing guitar player but also an amazing teacher, he always comes prepared and the class is well organized. He is also open to hearing suggestions to learn your favorite songs. He is very encouraging which gives the motivation to keep going which is so important for a beginner. I am already seeing great progresses after only a few weeks, and I can't wait for more lessons this year. Highly recommend him if you are looking to get started with the guitar! You will really enjoy learning with him, he is also a very cool and fun guy so you can learn in a nice environment, whether it is in his studio at his place, at your place or online.

I learnt music theory and improvisation with Charles for 4 months in New York.

Charles is highly approachable and extremely knowledgeable. He walks the perfect line between making his students feel comfortable whilst also pushing them to become better in every single session.

I got a solid grasp of the basics of music theory and was able to fully improvise in different scales at the end of the course. The growth I had was tremendous - all thanks to Charles' guidance.

Charles will take the time to fully understand the needs, goals and struggles of his students. He will be there for them inside and outside of class time because he genuinely cares about music and his students becoming better.
Nicolas Parada
Super talented, yet super down to earth. Great teacher and ridiculously knowledgeable, yet super funny. I had been a self taught bass player for years before taking Charles' course at NYU and was hoping to try out a new instrument and learn it the "right way" through lessons, expecting things to be very academic. But Charles works in a way that is surprisingly individual-based, and so that while you do learn a lot, you do so at your own pace and having fun along the way. By blending your own formal course goals with his own knowledge and incredible feel for the instrument alongside the songs you want to learn (often times you learn them together- he is great at picking up new, unfamiliar tunes by ear) it creates an experience that keeps you picking up the guitar long after you leave the classroom. Where I am now with guitar and where I started at first are miles and miles apart thanks to him, and he's just a super chill guy who likes playing guitar. Who also happens to be ridiculously qualified. 10/10 would recommend.

Flamenco guitar lessons with Raphael are unique because he grew up, and studied in Spain. As well as teaching full solo pieces. He has been playing guitar for over 25 years, and has toured the world. As well as playing in the opening ceremonies in Barcelona for the 1992 Olympics. He has worked artists such as El Farruquito, El Toromb, and El Manzanita. Just to mention a few. Raphael also speaks Spanish, German, and English. And is a very patient teacher, and gives great attention to detail.

About raphael

Hi! My name is Raphael, and I am a Flamenco guitarist. I've been playing for over 25 years, and lived in Spain for over 10 years. I have had the pleasure of traveling the world playing guitar and working with some of the best Flamenco artists from Spain, as well as here in the U.S. I am a full ti

I have been taking Flamenco Guitar lessons with Raphael since I moved to New York. It has been a wonderful experience! There are a few things about him that set him apart from other teachers i have worked with:
1. He is extremely patient - but at the same time points out when you are not in compas. If you have played flamenco before you know how important it is to get that correct - and he holds you accountable to the compas which is very helpful.
2. He intermixes exercises and falsetas in a helpful way. My fear with flamenco is that I wind up with a lot of falsetas that I can't really play right. Raphael is not afraid of giving you some exercises to grind on to get your techniques and timing up to par.
3. He is well connected in the NY flamenco world so you know what is happening and can hear a lot of flamenco out in the city.

My experience has been delightful. If you are looking to learn flamenco guitar and want to sound authentic and in compas- I would recommend Raphael unreservedly. Also he is a great guy to spend time with which is always a plus!
Nathalie
Raphael has been studying, teaching and performing throughout the United States and Europe with the top artists in the world of flamenco. Coming from an artistic family, he has grown up with the dedication, creativity and passion needed to become the unique musician he is. Raphael's vast knowledge and experience has helped people of all ages and levels of playing to learn, improve and grow.
Don't miss the opportunity to work with him!

About Stewart

Hello There! My name is Stewart, I am a guitarist and singer-songwriter living in California! I graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music. I have played guitar since the age of 14 and have been a passionate music fanatic my entire life.

Stewart is so kind, thoughtful, and talented! I have had two other guitar teachers before him and Stewart is by far the best. Stewart makes learning guitar so fun by telling me music history, helping me with my own songs that I am writing, and teaching me really cool songs! There are so many things that I like about Stewart, but the thing that I like the most is the way that he teaches me songs that I like. He askes me what song I want to learn how to play and teaches it to me. My other guitar teachers would teach straight out of the book which could become boring after a while. Stewart also gives me great music suggestions to learn too! He introduces me to bands and artists that he knows that I would like. Stewart is very confident at distance and in-person learning too! The lessons go very smoothly! Stewart even makes additional videos that he sends me so I can understand it better. Stewart is very enthusiastic, fun, and kind. I feel very lucky to have Stewart as my guitar teacher! No one else could come anywhere close to comparing to him!!
Jorge
Stewart has been amazing with my son. He started when he was 5 and a half years old and he is now 7. I have seen my son's skills grow over the time Stewart has been teaching him.

He is very accommodating, every once in a while last minute things come up because as they always do, but Stewart is very flexible and accommodated to my needs.

Stewart is also very skilled. My son has had some unique request for songs he wants to learn, for example "Zelda needs a ladder Deadmou5e mix" and Stewart was able to figure out the music notes in no time and taught him that song all in one 30 minute class.

Stewart is great with my son and very patient he wants the kids to enjoy the learning process and not be a drag. The homework he assigns is easy to follow that even I started learning the guitar from the homework my son is given.

Can't say enough good things about Stewart.
Santosh Dornal
Stewart has been teaching guitar to my 7 year old son for over a year now and we couldn't be much happier with his lessons. Ever since the lock down we have switched to online lessons and things have sailing smooth. Stewart is very responsible tutor with excellent communication. He sends reminders on the day my son has the class and follows up with notes to practice after the class. I am clearly able to see the progress my son is making. My son thoroughly enjoys his lessons and haven't had any complaints so far. I would highly recommend Stewart to any one who wants take guitar lessons.
