For the last thirty years, from the day that I got my first electric as a teenager, to my work today as an acoustic guitarist for the band, Timberwood, and currently as a teacher of more than forty students a week, my life has been devoted to the guitar.
I'm an experienced veteran of the metal and hard rock scene of the 80's and 90's in eastern Virginia. As I grew older, I took formal lessons focusing on classical guitar, while growing to love the blues. The year that I turned 34, I quit my corporate job, took a leap of faith, helped to build and brand a new music school in Chesapeake, Virginia, working there as a full-time music school manager and guitar instructor.
I now teach an incredibly diverse group of students of every age, background and experience level in my home studio here in the fast-growing World Golf Village area of Saint Augustine, Florida and at the Jacksonville School of Music in Jacksonville, Florida.
My teaching philosophy is simple - teach how to play the guitar, not just how to play the songs. I pride myself on being a positive and patient teacher, dedicated to his craft and to each student's success.

Greg quickly assessed the starting point for our lessons. He said it was helpful that I had filled out the survey form in advance of the first lesson. He seems to have a good balance between correct form and good sound. I’m looking forward to working with him.

Awesome first lesson with a very knowledgeable, patient and personable teacher :)

I’ve advanced more in a month with Greg than I did in the previous year on my own.

I just had my first lesson and it was a great experience! Looking forward to the next one!

Greg is knowledgeable in both theory and various styles of guitar playing. He is fun to work with and is helping me advance my skills, not only through playing but in understanding the why behind making things work.

Very nice and informative, knew how to keep lesson moving along while also explaining everything.

this is my first lesson.thanks for Sheet music.Looking forward to future courses.

First instruction and I feel like I got more out of it than I expected. Looking forward.

good so far. Wesley really enjoyed!

,\I loved it

Baylee has learned so much with Greg. She started with very little knowledge in music and now can read music and play beautifully! We couldn’t have asked for a better instructor for her.

My son was given a guitar by a family member and showed variable interest until Greg started to teach him - Greg has woven elements of what my son needs to learn to improve with how these elements are used by some of the biggest and best guitarists ever and really changed practice from being a chore to something that can be fun. This is the way Greg said he would teach and he’s sticking very much to it! A great instructor that my son really enjoys going to - thanks Greg!!

I was very impressed, satisfied and happy about my guitar lessons with Greg.
I'm German and booked just 5 lessons due to travel reasons. There was very vage input from me to Greg when we started (I always play the same; want to get new ideas; ...). Greg did not just provide a regular standard lesson. He focused and addressed 100%+ my desires and needs. Greg provided me very conrete and great input in several aspects to what I can do to improve my guitar playing. This was very useful to me and enabled me to move my guitar play forward. I highly recommend Greg to anybody.

Greg is a great teacher! In just 4 months, I have learned so much about music theory, basic chords and history of guitar. He packs a lot of info in one lesson. He is patient and encouraging. He has exposed me to many artists who play guitar. He gives me good tips on how to form the chords easier. Greg makes learning to play guitar FUN!

Greg is an excellent teacher. He keeps lessons interesting and caters to what his student wants to learn. The very first class he asked me to come next class with 5 songs that I ultimately wanted to learn. Over the course of the following lessons, he would incorporate skills needed to play those songs. He would reference my "dream songs" when learning other skills and explain that I would need this later to be able to play my songs. It is awesome because all while I was learning what I thought was random guitar knowledge, he was prepping me to play my "dream songs". He is also hilarious! He has a great sense of humor which helps keep the lessons fun and interesting. He is easy to approach if I am confused by something and is able to come at it in a different manner to get me to truly understand. He also has immense patience which is awesome for someone like me who doesn't always have time to practice as much as I would like. I would highly recommend Greg to any age student as he knows how to make learning guitar fun and approachable!

I started taking guitar lessons with Greg at the Jacksonville School of Music nearly 5 years ago when I was 11. Since I started taking lessons here, Greg has taught me nearly everything I need to know about guitar, especially music theory, which involves many things such as chord progressions and scales. This has helped me write songs and improvise guitar solos in songs. Because of his teaching skills, I was able to learn new guitar skills very quickly. I don’t think any other guitar teacher can provide me with as much guitar knowledge as Greg does. In my opinion, he is the best and most helpful guitar teacher in Jacksonville
As Greg's bandmate, I can attest to his patience, professionalism, creativity and his dedication to the guitar.
