I've worked in various settings with students of all ages, from beginning elementary school cellists to high school students preparing for college auditions to adults seeking to learn a new instrument. As a performing cellist, I was a member of the Danbury Symphony Orchestra for several seasons and am currently completing a Master of Music in cello performance at Boston Conservatory with Rhonda Rider.

Our 10 year old son began his cello journey a month before the pandemic hit, so most of his lessons in the past 2.5 years has been online. While he advanced quite a bit through virtual lessons, I knew his posture and bow hold were lacking, because it's rather impossible to coach that aspect through a screen. Hence, it was a breath of fresh air when we met Grace and began in-person lessons in our home. She is very communicative, flexible, and accommodating (which is so crucial when schedules are constantly shifting with so many moving parts), and most importantly, my child enjoys the lessons and appreciates her encouraging, firm yet caring style. I personally enjoy hearing her feedback after each lesson and have been wow-ed on more than one occasion to see my somewhat pessimistic child enjoying the progress he's making under Grace's teaching.
Grace has made my cello learning dreams come true! As an adult without a lot of music background, I was nervous about starting cello lessons, especially the note reading. Grace has made learning cello seem very achievable and also very fun! She helped me rent a cello and comes over weekly for lessons. She is always prepared with new material in case we get through the planned material quickly and assigns great homework! Her fine tuning suggestions on arm and body placement as well as finger and arm weight have been so helpful. I highly recommend!
