    About Evan L.

Evan Lamont proposes that creativity is a key ingredient for human flourishing. As a teacher, Evan is interested in customized arts education, in which students’ individual interests, aptitudes, gifts, and aspirations play leading roles in curriculum development. Like an artistic director, Evan facilitates the cultivation of creativity by maintaining a balance between the study of traditional repertoires, the practice of composition, and the sharing of insights across many fields. As an artist, Evan is especially interested in music of the African-American tradition. This enthusiasm began in college, when he co-led Quincy Jones’s Messiah at Lincoln Center. With humility and confidence, Evan is focused on creating music that is joyful, inspirational, and socially conscious. His gospel suite, Trust Me: You’re Enough, premiers in April 2018 at The Democracy Center in Cambridge. Evan received a Bachelor’s from Dartmouth and is completing a Master’s in jazz piano at Longy School of Music.
