    Tuba/Euphonium Performance -- TRANSCEND TECHNIQUE

I am offering instrumental lessons of the typical format: You play, I listen and advise; then I play, you listen and take notes; finally we put the horns down and talk about technique, musicality, and musicianship. You may find some recordings of mine on SoundCloud under "Elihu S. - Tuba". First, give those a listen. If you like how I play, then you will like how I teach. I am willing to do these lessons online, but I strongly prefer to do them in person. Get in touch to discuss location. Either I come to you or you come to me. Cheers!

    About Elihu C.

I'm a university student in aeronautical engineering. I've lived, worked and studied in Germany, Sweden, and mainland China. I have professional experience in engineering, translation, and music. I've tutored German and Mandarin Chinese at various levels from primary school through university students to professionals. I've helped many language students get up and speaking in a matter of weeks. My teaching style focuses on grasping the system rather than memorizing the details, going out and conversing rather than staying in and studying. My private music students have ranged from children to university music majors. My focus is on conceptual approach and musical expression, rather than cut-and-dry technique. In my experience, students who aim to express emotions through music always learn technique BETTER and FASTER than students who actually focus on technique. Here's to our success as teacher and student! Cheers!
