I began playing piano at the age of 3 1/2 by ear, listening to music of the 1960s such as The Beatles and Broadway musicals. When I was 15, I started 2 years of classical lessons, and, because my ear was so well developed, was given the opportunity to learn Fur Elise by Beethoven at my second lesson. I had begun teaching the piece to myself after hearing it played on a movie soundtrack. I began my studies at Berklee College of Music in 1979, taking jazz piano and vocal lessons, as well as classes in ear training, theory, and arranging, along with various ensembles and labs. Following my years at Berklee, I played in a number of different bands and had a record produced on which I wrote and sang 4 songs, arranged background vocals, and played piano. This recording received Northeast regional airplay and was one of the highlights of my musical career. I have been teaching piano in the Capital District of New York since 1997, with students ranging in age from 4 to 71, and of various ...

Guitar In The Modern Context -
Various lessons available focused on the guitar as an extension of the player. Emphasis on tone and style, over technique - it's not how many notes you can play, it's what you do with them.
I can't wait to work with you! I am passionate about the subjects I teach, and find nothing can compare to seeing a student "get it", so they may too enjoy the passion that comes from learning and doing something they love. Everything I teach I've learned most completely by doing as a Profession

In my 17 years playing the saxophone, I've performed in all sorts of places and styles - orchestras, jazz bands, chamber groups, rock concerts, musical pits, you name it! I've taught beginners, college students, and even retirees.
I've studied classical and jazz music at Carnegie Mellon, Duquesne, and Baldwin Wallace Universities with James Houlik, Mike Tomaro, and others. I have studied composition, music theory, and music history, too. After all, there's more to learning an instrument than just knowing which fingers to press down!
I can help you improve your skills and style whether you're just starting out on the sax or fine-tuning your college auditions!
Hi! My name's Dan, and I'm a saxophonist, flutist, clarinetist, teacher, and avid learner of pretty much everything! I just received my Advanced Music Studies Certificate from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, adding to my Master's in Music from Duquesne University (also in Pittsburgh),

My lesson plans cater to the interests and needs of each individual student. I have a curriculum that emphasizes proper breathing and vocal techniques, as well as mindful body awareness. I teach in multiple genres of voice, and aim to instill good vocal technique for healthy singing in any genre! My curriculum also includes ear training and sight-reading skills, as I believe that reading sheet music is beneficial. For interested students, I also teach performance and audition skills.
I have a Bachelor's degree in music, specifically voice. I've studied both voice and piano for over 12 years, and have been performing for over a decade in a variety of settings. As a voice teacher, I believe that every voice is unique. My students establish a foundation of healthy singing techniq

Having had other violin teachers I can tell that Zhana contoured her teaching specifically for me. She is a wonderful teacher with plenty of encouragement and at the same time does not allow me to take it too easy on myself. Just what I need."
My 10 year old son has about 5 lessons under his belt now. The lessons are fun, focused, and strategically improving his skills. I am very impressed with how the lessons are paced and the amount of material that is covered. Michael is super kid-friendly and is patient. The homework is consistent and appropriate."

Are you trying to learn a song on ukulele but can only find guitar chords? I’ve played guitar all my life and have a collection of Gibson and Epiphone Les Pauls. For my birthday a few years ago, my girlfriend bought me an electric Les Paul-style ukulele. I’d never played a uke before -- ever. I had to go online to even find out how to tune the thing! Undaunted, I discovered the standard tuning is from the top string G – C – E – A. The G string is thinner than the C string, sort …
