Professional Musician with 25 years of experience as a Jazz Vocalist — Clubs, Restaurants, Wine Bars, Arts Centers, Jazz Festivals, Corporate Events, Weddings, Private Parties, Fundraisers, Galas — and 15 years of experience as a Private Jazz Vocal Instructor. Teach private classes, workshops, and clinics. Help students to increase vocal range and achieve good vocal production: Demonstrate breath control, correct breathing, and proper posture. Instruct students in music theory fundamentals, phrasing and scatting, jazz forms, and jazz styles. Assign and lead listening exercises. Show students how to do the following: choose a song appropriate for their vocal range and style, use jazz lingo, create a lead sheet, organize a gig book, get a gig, lead and communicate with a rhythm section, “sit in” on a gig, and other practical tools. Students receive my full attention, personalized to their needs.
