Teaching since:

I am a freelance trumpet performer and teacher based out of San Diego, California. I have been freelancing and teaching since 2014 during my undergraduate studies at Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU). I graduated from PLNU in 2017 with my Bachelor of Music (B.M.) degree in Instrumental Performance. I immediately went on to graduate school, where I moved to Cincinnati, OH for two years. I studied at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), and I just received my Master of Music (M.M) degree in Trumpet Performance in May of this year. I just recently moved back to San Diego, and I am now trying to get my freelance career to take off while also starting to teach full time.

As a performer, I am extremely versatile. I have performed in everything from a traditional band/orchestra settings to being on stage with an indie rock band. I also have experience playing jazz in big bands for a number of years during high school and my undergrad. I am also comfortable performing as a soloist, having performed numerous times as a soloist either with piano accompaniment or with a large ensemble behind me.

As a teacher, I will prepare you for success in whichever style of playing you are interested in, but there will be a heavy focus on the classical side. In lessons, we will work to sharpen general music skills through learning scales and scale patterns, as well as sight reading; we will also focus on trumpet fundamentals including sound production, tone, range, articulation, dexterity, endurance/stamina, dynamics, style, breathing, and more! We may also work to improve aural skills through listening exercises, sight-singing, and rhythmic hand-clapping to round out your musicianship skills.

My goal as a teacher is to hand down the valuable knowledge I have learned over the years to the next generation of trumpet players and musicians, as well as to those who are older and just want to improve. Teaching students has taught me so much about myself and has helped me grow as a musician in more ways than I can count. I look forward to making a lasting impression on you and your music career and can't wait to make music with you!
