Hi! My name is Colin Taylor, and to be brief, my life revolves around the drums. I've been playing for 15 years, and I can easily call it my life's passion. From 2013-2015 I studied drum set performance (on scholarships from the school and Zildjian Cymbals) at the world-renowned Drummers Collective School of Music.
Here I spent lots of time learning the vocabulary of playing the drums in tons of different styles (afro-cuban, jazz, rock, electronic, reggae/carribean, balkan, funk, you name it!), as well as pushing the boundaries of rhythm, time, and sound in newer genres of music.
Since I've been out of school, I've been deeply involved in the NYC music scene, playing with countless different bands of all types, and have played at notable venues such as Bowery Ballroom (Manhattan), The Kennedy Center (D.C.), Joe's Pub (Manhattan), Baby's All Right (Brooklyn), and Rockwood Music Hall (Manhattan). When you study with me, I cater to exactly where you're at in your progress with this incredible instrument every step of the way. The insight I provide comes from years of working things out on my own, as well as with some of the world's best drummers.
Anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm an extremely kind, caring, and insightful person, and that I LOVE to explain various aspects of the drums, and do so clearly and thoroughly. I will calmly guide you through lessons and exercises that will help you progress and grow optimally as a drummer. Feel free to send me a message anytime! Looking forward to hearing from you! :)
