    About Brandon C.

Brandon has been surrounded by music since a young age, having both parents as musicians. Brandon began his musical carrier playing the trumpet eventually branching out to piano, a little violin, composing, and conducting. He attended the University of Central Florida where he received a BA and MA in composition and conducting respectively. While in Orlando, Brandon worked as a part of the A Gift for Music program teaching beginning violin to inner-city elementary school children. He was also the conductor of the A Gift for Music Core Orchestra, a group of very talented young string students. Brandon was also the Brass Instructor for a local Jr./Sr. High School where he taught trumpet lessons, coached brass ensembles, and accompanied students on the piano. On top of this Brandon also had a small studio in the area. Currently Brandon is a graduate student at the University of Texas in Austin where he is studying composition. *** Lesson Details *** As a teacher I find the most important thing is to make sure the student has fun making music. I realize that everyone is different and I try to cater to the needs of the individual while still making sure that there is advancement in technique and musicianship. It is also a goal of mine to make sure that every students learns to practice without having someone ask them to do it. I believe it is important to have a strong foundation when playing music. If that foundation is there it is easier to have fun making music and far less likely for a student to fail. For beginners I generally start with basic technique and gradually shift into playing pieces. If a student has been playing for a while, I will find out where they are in their musical journey and take it from there. I also try to focus on developing musicianship and individuality. I can not stress how important it is to not only have fun but to practice. It takes a great deal of dedication and effort to become a good musician. *** Travel Equipment *** I can provide some music and small things like the occasional rosin or valve oil. I can also help students find rental venues for instruments. I would expect the students to have their own instrument/s and material to properly take care of the instrument. I would also expect them to keep the music we are currently working on with them. *** Specialties *** I specialize in classical music though I can teach popular music and basic improvisation. I try to focus on expression and technique with students.

Brandon has been teaching my son for the past 3 years and has been a fantastic instructor in both trumpet and piano. He is very patient, encouraging and understanding with my son. Brandon is diligent and requests the best performance from the kids without being pushy or overbearing. His knowledge of trumpet and piano are exceptional and his demonstrations are impressive. He is always punctual and super nice. I would recommend Brandon as music teacher for any student.

Brandon is by far the best piano teacher I've ever had in my 7-ish years of instruction. He truly cares about your advancement as a student, and goes above and beyond to ensure that you are learning AND having fun. Just within my first lesson with Brandon, he helped me to identify quite a few bad playing habits I had no idea I had developed over the years. He's astoundingly observant and perceptive, and is helping me to improve my posture, my reading skills, etc. Habbits are difficult to break, and I really appreciate his patience and constructive criticism, and that he challenges me to take difficult yet important steps to improve. In the past, I would learn one piece each week with an instructor, then move on without taking the time to perfect it. Brandon will take the time to show you how to TRULY master a piece, even if it takes 5 lessons. I cannot convey how valuable such an experience has been to my own progression. He's also very fun to talk to and makes you feel comfortable and at ease. BEST PIANO TEACHER EVER - HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR ALL AGES
