    About Austin B.

I am an experienced clarinet and bass clarinet player with over 16 years of playing experience with a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from the University of Maryland. I've been teaching private lessons for 5 years to people of all ages- beginners, intermediate, & advanced students! I've played in prestigious ensembles all around the country, ranging from principal clarinetist in All-County and All-State bands, to principal bass clarinetist in an Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall, 1st chair in wind ensembles/orchestras at the University of Maryland, and even as a Drum Major in marching bands! All lessons are customized to the needs of each student. My goal is to help you get better & achieve your or your child's musical goals! For beginners, I take great care in establishing a strong foundation in note reading, music theory, proper embouchure and intonation, and other important aspects of creating beautiful tones. For intermediate players, I aim to build on existing skills and expand knowledge of music theory, sight reading, and advanced playing/practicing techniques. For advanced players, I work diligently to refine a pure, warm tone & help you master standard repertoire pieces and have expert playing technique. Whether your/your child's goals are learning to play for the first time, creating a richer, darker, more beautiful clarinet tone, earning a spot in your All-District or All-State bands, or preparing college audition pieces, I am here to help! Please note: I have passed mandated government background check and clearances to work with children for my full-time job at the University of Pennsylvania.
