Hello, I am a New York based musician and educator, available for piano or clarinet lessons, and I am always excited to help my students discover more music. It is my mission to work with students to enjoy playing music, and to mold my lessons to fit your expectations and lifestyle. Every student is different, and I do my best to teach to your needs and interests. I am flexible and willing to work around busy schedules to teach you more about reading music, understanding music, and playing your instrument more effectively.
I have been involved with music for my whole life, beginning piano lessons at age 5 and clarinet lessons at age 8, and continuing lessons to this day. I have since earned degrees in clarinet performance from SUNY Fredonia and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. As a conservatory trained musician, I have a wide range of knowledge on all aspects of music, including theory, history, ensemble playing, auditioning, and performing. I have a vast knowledge of lesson books and repertoire and am ready to draw from this knowledge to find the right music for you to play and enjoy.
Lessons are structured to teach students to problem-solve on their own, practice effectively, and enjoy playing their instruments more comfortably and successfully. I am particularly interested in teaching students to enjoy their art, and to bring out the different musical talents of each individual. The ultimate goal is to foster a love of music and a self-reliance and confidence that comes with learning to play an instrument.
I look forward to exploring music with new students, and can’t wait to work with you!
I have created my own piano studio of students ranging from elementary school through high school. Repertoire for my students differs significantly depending on their interests and level, and includes lesson books for my younger students, piano repertoire by the major composers for my older students, and even learning songs without written music for students who learn better by ear. We have ended our year with a voluntary piano recital to celebrate the unique accomplishments of all my students.+ Read More
At Vienna Music, I taught private lessons ranging from 30 minutes to 1 hour to mostly young students (ages 4-8). A majority of my students were brand new piano students who had never played a piano before. I prepared these students for regular recitals as well as simply teaching them how to be successful when they played the piano and clarinet.+ Read More
