Emphasis will be placed on fundamental oboe technique to ensure the student has a solid foundation on which to develop. This is achieved through scales, etudes, occasional reading material, and reed making techniques. I use the Barret Oboe Method book heavily, and would highly suggest students purchase a copy of they do not have one; regardless of whether you take lessons from me or not.

I graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor degree in Music Performance - Oboe. I have played many various instruments since the age of 4, and have over 6 years of experience performing in professional orchestras across the country. This solid performance background helps me to bring students to the level of playing they desire; whatever that may be.

I have been wanting to get better at oboe through private lessons, so Alex was recommended to me by a teacher. I could not have enjoyed my lesson more! He was really professional, but without making me feel nervous! His lessons are always fun, informative and he challenges me to get better every week--I can definitely hear a difference too. It also helps that he is one of the best that I've heard in person too. I couldn't recommend him enough!
