The sound of the flute is full of potential for a wide array of colors and textures and can be played in a variety of styles: classical, jazz, funk, Afrobeat, rock, and more. I teach my students through exercises catered to their musical passions. In addition to the basic technical elements of playing, I focus on listening across the musical spectrum. I encourage the use of long tones and air support to improve tone, flexibility, and all repertoire.
About Emily
Woodwind instrumentalist Emily performs regularly in a range of styles including classical, jazz, rock, funk, Afrobeat, Third Stream, and musical theater. Emily holds her M.M. in Multiple Woodwind Performance from The Boston Conservatory with concentrations in saxophone, clarinet, and flute perform

I started formal music training at the age of four and earned a Master's Degree in Flute Performance at New York University. Since 2010, I have been giving music lessons. Most of my students passed and reached the short-term goals or exams I gave them, including NYSSMA, ABRSM, and some of them even got accepted into special high schools. I have my own teaching curriculum and style; I will as well use some special tools to help students improve, and teach some music theory, ear-training, sight-reading, and a lot more techniques in our lessons. But generally, all lessons are customized and catered depends on each student's abilities and goals. We can definitely figure out together the best way to help you or your child to improve. Take lessons with me, not only will you be playing songs in no time, but you will be building a strong foundation of music making!
About Yung-Ai Chloe
I hope you will consider me for my passion, expertise and experience in music teaching. I also customize my lessons towards my students' abilities and goals. My greatest satisfaction is from seeing my students improve. I love helping people learn to play music; because music has been a constant

The flute is an enchanting instrument, and it's so fun to learn! While it can be challenging, after just a few lessons with me, you can be playing some simple tunes. One of my dedicated students played a duet with me after just three lessons! I personally have been playing the flute for 17 years. I have performed in high school and college bands, and have been able to gain some teaching experience in the last few years. Our lessons will cover terminology, note reading, site reading, and technique, especially best embouchure practices.
About Rachel
Hello, my name is Rachel. I have been playing the flute for 17 years, ever since I was nine years old. I played in a small beginner band for about three years, during which I was also in school flute competitions. My flute teacher had a strong emphasis on rhythm and counting, for which I'm grateful

I'm still a musician. I graduated recently from Bard College with a degree in music and have since played onstage in a very successful off-broadway musical. I've played in many orchestras including with graduate & conservatory students at Bard, with the New York Youth Symphony Orchestra, and at LaGuardia High School (formerly Music & Art). I have moved on to other instruments, and forms of music, but I credit Frances not just for showing me how much I love music but for teaching me in many ways how to enjoy and get what I want from life. I can't recommend her enough."
