I believe in teaching strong fundamentals so that we can have a solid foundation to build on. Good tone and an understanding of embouchure are most important, and we will develop technique. I enjoy helping students achieve their goals and develop their talents.

Music is so much more than organized notes written on a piece of paper. Music is a beautiful language and powerful phenomenon that should be felt, experienced, and shared daily. I want every student to believe and feel that playing the flute is fun and worth sharing with others! I have been playing the flute for 16 years, have nearly a decade of performance experience, and have experience in private flute instruction. I specialize in teaching beginner flute students, and as your teacher, it is my primary goal to not only help you learn how to produce a lovely sound on your instrument and read music but to encourage a deeper love and appreciation for the music itself that goes beyond the classroom. As you learn to breathe life into your flute and play songs, you will also be building a solid foundation in note reading, music theory, sight-reading, proper technique, and more! I've taught for more than 20 years. I structure lessons with a foundation of the basics, exercises and etudes, and literature. Music should be a rewarding journey that I want to share with you!

I've been teaching flute and band instruments for 20+ years and my students have gone on to enjoy making music, earning highest ratings at competitions, and having fun. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to make your first sounds and as time goes on you'll be able to play pieces of music you enjoy. I specialize in focusing on basic skills which will allow you to grow as a musician as time goes on. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!
