Stewart is a very patient and motivating teacher, and he does a good job commanding attention for our easily-distracted little dude. The lessons are well-tailored for his age and level of abilities (beginner). This has helped to make the learning fun and frustration-free. The skills are coming very naturally at a good pace, and I am surprised by how well he is beginning to read music, and to know the note lengths, intensities, fingerings, etc.
Stewart also occasionally sends us personal video lessons to help build upon Finn's skills where he needs help the most. This helps to keep him interested and practicing; it's been a very nice personalized approach that we have enjoyed.
So far these lessons have been online, but we look forward to the time when we can go to in-person lessons with Stewart. It has been a great experience so far, and we plan to stick with it.
He is very accommodating, every once in a while last minute things come up because as they always do, but Stewart is very flexible and accommodated to my needs.
Stewart is also very skilled. My son has had some unique request for songs he wants to learn, for example "Zelda needs a ladder Deadmou5e mix" and Stewart was able to figure out the music notes in no time and taught him that song all in one 30 minute class.
Stewart is great with my son and very patient he wants the kids to enjoy the learning process and not be a drag. The homework he assigns is easy to follow that even I started learning the guitar from the homework my son is given.
Can't say enough good things about Stewart.

My kids and husband love Jordan's lessons. He is motivating and able to help the kids pick songs that they enjoy. The lessons go by quickly. First rate teacher!"

I'm a student of Steve G.'s and am in my 40's. I had previously taken classical piano lessons from the age of 7 until 18, but I wanted to try my hand at guitar. Having come from a long line of teachers in my own family, I am well acquainted with the great (but often under-appreciated) skill it requires to be a quality instructor of any kind. A superb instructor (like Steve G.) should possess the following qualities:
1. Patient: Prodigies or masters of their art often lack the ability to convey their ability on a small scale to their pupils. Steve is an amazing performer and artist, and yet he is humble enough to walk alongside you, particularly when you are establishing the fundamentals of guitar technique. He will find the areas that need work and allow you to see how a small amount of persistence can result in large gains.
2. Encouraging: Steve is always optimistic. You can feel his passion for music in every word he speaks. He has the rare gift of making you see the flashes of your own talent, and he will help you build on those. He will not only help you figure out ways to overcome your obstacles in playing, but he will also deepen your appreciation of the instrument itself. He even went with me to the store to pick out an awesome acoustic guitar!
3. Individualizing: Steve doesn't have a once-size-fits-all method of teaching. He is a very keen and observant instructor who will challenge you based on your progress as well as your natural abilities. He will get to know you as a human being and as a budding artist. He will find ways to allow you to take your own inspirations and use them to drive you forward in your musical exploration.
4. Exemplary: Steve has tremendous integrity, not only as an artist but also as a professional instructor. He is also a tremendous guitarist with a broad repertoire, and watching him play will motivate you to become even better.
I hope this review is helpful to anyone who is considering taking lessons. Sign up with Steve and you won't regret it! Good luck on your journey!"
