I have been singing since I was old enough to sing and it's something I do professionally almost every day. I will teach you some basic techniques such as breathing, posture, singing exercises and how to select a repertoire that best fits you. From there, we will go on to develop your goals as a vocalist and make you feel great about taking the floor, whether it be at karaoke, a party, the stage or your living room. I'm excited to meet you and sing with you!

About Jessica
Hello! Thanks for checking out my profile. Please feel free to ask me any questions. -Jessica

***About Jessica***
Jessica is known worldwide for her music which incorporates her original comedy, artwork and videos. She spent a decade touring the US and the UK and has performed in many festivals including the Reading & Leeds Festival, Latitude Festival, Montreal Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Dublin Comedy Festival, End of the Road Festival, NY Funny Songs Festival, NY International Children’s Film Festival and more.

Jessica’s music and comedy is inspired by being the oldest of 6 girls and growing up in a small town in Maine, where she taught Sunday school and counseled teens and twins in a local after school program for four years. When Jessica was 19, she moved to Philadelphia to study animation after receiving a par
tial scholarship to the Art Institute of Philadelphia, and relocated to NYC shortly after graduating.

Her unique music, performances, art and internet videos have won many awards and critical acclaim.

She has performed her music and written segments and songs for television (including ABC’s “Good Morning America”, MTV’s “I Bet You Will”, Fox News “Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld”, IFC's "Comedy Music Hall of Fame", HGTV's Flea Market Flip, TBS’s “Saving Grace” website and “The Tyra Banks Show”), radio (including "The Dr. Demento Show", "The Jackie Martling Show", WFMU's "Spreading Yourself Thin with Jessica D" and “The Opie and Anthony Radio Show” on SiriusXM, BBC’s “Loose Ends Radio Programme” and BBC’s “The Simone Show” in the UK), feature films (including “What Would Jesus Buy?” directed by Morgan Spurlock), commercially for major clients and also on stages across the US and the UK (including London’s prestigious Soho Theatre, NYC’s Irving Plaza, Joe’s Pub and The Bowery Ballroom as John Waters’ opening act, and LA’s Troubadour).

*** Lesson Details ***
Jessica brings a lot of fun to her lessons. She is like a cool aunt or a big sister who likes to have a good time but who also wants to teach you to play guitar or ukulele and sing, hopefully at the same time. Jessica's laid back style and attention to your needs as a student will help you reach your goals, whatever they may be. Together, you will go as fast or as slow as is comfortable for you. Jessica works with classic rock, pop, folk and all your favorite songs as your step ladder for learning. Jessica also can help you develop your own musical style and teach you to write YOUR OWN SONGS from beginning to end, if that is of interest to you.

*** Studio Equipment ***
amp, microphone, keyboard, guitar, ukulele, music stands

*** Travel Equipment ***
Guitar and Ukulele. Students can rent instruments initially but must get their own, as soon as possible

*** Specialties ***
Classic stringed instruments such as acoustic / electric guitar and ukulele, and several unusual instruments such as singing saw and electronic and standard autoharp, singing, songwriting and guidance on how to monetize your band, including acquiring sponsorships and arranging local and international tours.

***What Are Lessons Like?***
Student(s) and teacher sit together and start with the basics, then move on to learn others' songs (The Beatles or other classics are a good place to start) and then may even try to compose original songs, if that is of interest.

Jessica is a virtuoso on the ukulele. She has the patience of a saint with less than adept students. Yet she is insistent, in a gentle way, about instilling correct form in her students' approach to the uke. In addition, she is a walking encyclopedia of songs that span the range from traditional to standards to current day favorites, and from country to r&B to rock and roll.

I've been teaching voice lessons for over ten years. I begin with a Berklee College of Music book as a foundation and then I flourish the student with techniques, theory, and inspiration from many sources. Past students have been nominated for Grammys and excepted to prestigious schools.

About Tamara
I'm a producer, instructor, singer songwriter, sound engineer, and composer residing in Brooklyn, New York. I'm currently working on a Master's Degree in Music Production and Sound Design at The Academy of Art University, freelancing as a pianist/vocalist, and I'm working on and recording a second album.

I started singing, playing piano, and composing music when I was seven years old. Throughout my musical career, I have performed and collaborated with various rock bands, classical trios, vocal ensembles, churches, and theater groups.

My Education includes Berklee College of Music, Academy of Art University, McNally Smith College of Music, MCTC, and Full Sail University (BS and AAS degrees in Music Performance, Sound Arts/sound Engineering, Music Production).

I enjoy writing and playing classical, electronic, rock, jazz,
folk, punk, and experimental music. In my free time I like to circuit bend.

*** Lesson Details ***
When you take lessons from me expect to be inspired and pushed. I thoroughly love teaching music and want the best for my students. I try my best to involve and invite students to join or listen to live music ensembles, recitals, and performances of different genres. I teach all styles of music for voice, piano, and guitar. I am very diligent with practicing, teaching you how to practice, and keeping track of it. In 3 or 6 months you will have a basic understanding of music theory and a solid foundation of piano, voice, or guitar techniques. I thrive to boost self esteem and confidence in all the students that I teach. I also teach composition, students really enjoy writing their own songs and performing them.

As a music therapist and professional vocalist, my approach to teaching embraces each person's individual goals, experience, and ability to create a tailor made curriculum that includes: building and developing technique, developing practice skills, self-exploration within the lesson, and help developing creative outside projects,

About Jillian
I have a Master's degree in Music Therapy, am a nationally board certified music therapist (MT-BC); performer and vocal instructor (Bachelor's in Classical Voice); certified yoga instructor and meditation guide (200+); certified and attuned Reiki master; professional writer and editor.

...I find joy in a lot of places! And often I find these areas of study inform and augment each other.

Music therapy has afforded me a great deal of experience working with children, teens, and adults with special needs including, autism spectrum disorder, Down's syndrome, cerebral palsy, emotional disturbances and developmental delays as well as teens and adults with psychosocial issues, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, personality disorders, and more.

I incorporate my experience as a therapist into the educative se
tting.

As a voice teacher, I want to help my students settle comfortably into their own musicality by showing them the building blocks of a solid technique, drawing particularly from the things that helped me grow as a vocalist. I want my students to feel strong in their body, comfortable and relaxed in their breath, and confident in their performance.

I am a professional vocalist in NYC. I perform liturgical and classical music, as well as musical theater repertoire. I participate in professional operas, choral groups and other concert series, as well as professional theater work. Performing gives me a sense of bliss and completeness that is indescribable.

As a certified yoga instructor, I teach in many locations throughout NYC. I was trained at Yoga Haven in Scarsdale, New York with Betsy Kase, and earned a 200-hour certificate in Asana, Pranayama, and Meditation. I went on to complete advanced trainings and now specialize in restorative yoga, prenatal yoga, yin yoga and therapeutics. I offer private yoga instruction and meditation at my home studio, and on occasion in my clients’ homes. My studio comes fully equipped with all yoga props, aromatherapy, and music. Hands-on-assists and personalized sequencing to deepen your experience.

It is a joy to offer Reiki to curious, open clients in need of energy healing. Reiki is a noninvasive energy healing technique totally separate of any religious affiliation and available to anyone. It is a difficult to describe the relaxing, soothing, and deep-healing effects of Reiki to someone who has never experienced.

Please feel free to inquire about any of my services!

*Note: If you don't see a time slot that is suitable to your needs but would like to try a session with me, feel free to register for the Flex Plan, and we will work out week-to-week times!!**

**Note: If you are interested in music therapy, please email me with a bit about yourself (or your loved one) and your personal goals, as well as the qualities you hope to find in your therapist.

Excellent first voice lesson. Jillian is warm, encouraging, and very knowledgeable. I was surprised how many "technical" issues she introduced me to (optimal breathing & how best to practice it at home; appropriate use of falsetto at upper limit of bass voice range, etc.) . Looking forward to continued lessons. (Much better use of what used to be my copay for psychotherapy! I've also joined rehearsals with new Encore-NYC chorale group in Manhattan, for people over 55. Music is giving me a real emotional lift in my retirement.)

I teach a very aggressive classical singing technique known as Belcanto put to modern style music. With this technique you are safe from the vocal damage that most singers tend to fall victim to. Would you let all that time go to waste by having to spend days or even weeks in recovery? This method is for those who want power and efficiency to be able to sing every night without a hick up! It is perfect for beginners don’t let my words intimidate you. This method has helped me truly find confidence within myself and those I teach. Take the bull by the horns! You have nothing to lose!

About Andrew
Hello, thank you for taking the time to read more in depth about my teaching. Before I became a teacher I was unsure of what to do. Just as many of my friends were going off to school I was still stuck. Luckily I found a singing teacher who taught me the proper way to sing and I’ve had a passion for it ever since and that passion grew into teaching my own students and being able to share the gift of singing!

With the method of Belcanto, you will not only develop a powerful voice, increased range and an understanding of the mechanics behind singing. But also how to maintain that power and keep your voice healthy and injury free. There are many voice teachers in New York. However, there are only a handful of good ones that truly wish for you to pursue your dreams and ambitions through music. I was taught by one of those teachers and now I
wish to teach the same way and share this wonderful technique with my own students! If you are injured you waste valuable time you could be using to better you’re voice and obviously no one wants that! Why not give yourself the gift of singing just as I have received? You lose nothing by trying, but you lose everything by not giving yourself the chance to do so!

The method I teach works for modern day music and also classical. It doesn’t confine you to a certain niche like other techniques tend to do. On the contrary it frees your voice to practice certain genres that you would never of thought a classical technique could be applied to!

I look forward to hearing from you all and I will leave you with some advice to take away from all of this. Above all else keep music in your life, whether you learn from me or someone else. No one can ever take that away from you!

Dan is definitely the best voice instructor I have ever had. Not only is he warm and down to earth, he is incredibly supportive, knowledgeable and makes practice fun. He took a lot of time to get to know my goals and interests when it came to singing; my confidence in my voice has been shaken a lot due to less than encouraging voice instructors and he was very empathetic and genuine in his support. My name is Shavit. I am a musician, composer and singer, graduated from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in NY with honors.

I started teaching music- voice, solfage, ear-training, piano for beginners and the connection between a song and the singer, when I was 16. I was working in a conservatory and every year I had a group of musicians that I use to teach. They came to class together or alone and we worked on what they needed at the time. A few needed help of how to reach a song and how to connect to it, some of them didn't know how to read music and needed me to work with them on the music background, some of them wanted to work on a song they learned in school. I worked with students in all levels.

My students always told me that I have a lot of patience, that I am very clear with my explanations and that they could tell that I love to teach and share music information.

About Shavit
I am a professional musician, singer, composer and recording artist. I graduated from The New School For Jazz with a Bachelors of Music, specifically voice and composition.

I have been teaching music for the last 11 years and have a lot of experience as a private teacher. I specialize in vocal technique, classical music, vocal jazz, piano for beginners and more.

My voice students can expect to improve week after week in their lessons. Having a teacher that listen to you, understands you and helps you is very important for your personal development. As a music teacher I have always been told that I have a lot of patience, I am very clear with my explanations and that I love to teach and share music information.

Outside of the classroom I enjoy my music career in the last 23 years. I had performed and recorded with diverse musi
c groups on stages, festivals and competitions in Spain, England, The Netherlands, Israel and USA, experiences that showed me the power of music to bring people together.

I had appeared as a soloist at the famous Abu-Gosh Renaissance festival with the "Bat-Kol" choir, conducted by Anat Morahg, and performed and recorded a new arrangement by Roger Waters of Pink Floyd's The Wall. I was also a member of the Naked Voice A Capella ensemble, conducted by Tamir Chason.
