Bass clarinet is a special instrument with awesome people who play it! In a lesson, you can expect to learn, practice, and perform the fundamentals of bass clarinet using the materials given to you by your band director or I can create a custom curriculum for you. Rebecca is phenomenal for private lessons for all ages. She is very patient and makes learning the clarinet fun. She is detail oriented and will help you be the best you can be while still being encouraging and helpful. Rebecca gives clear feedback and suggestions to fix issues, she also is very knowledgeable about repertoire and new opportunities for playing. I help students create their best work by helping them formulate a thesis, write a 5 paragraph essay, utilize critical thinking, and create a powerful essay. I work with students on their academic writing or on their college applications, helping them craft a powerful personal statement and/or supplemental essays so that they can stand out!

I love taking an awkward stuttering self conscious mess of a human being and crafting them into a poised self aware charm machine.

This isn't just about make believe, a trained actor taps into their natural charisma, unlocks it, and lets it shine. I love watching that transformation take place.

My technique is based on play: tea party, cops and robbers, barbies... we all inherently know how to Play. Acting is simply honing the ability to make believe, to lose yourself in the game.

I am passionate about connecting students to their own unique voice through discovering the relationship between the body, the brain, vocal discipline, and personal expression. I work on creating a resonant and freely produced sound throughout all the registers. My goal is to promote healthy vocal technique while having full engagement in a song. I believe that singing is not only learning the right notes and words while delivering a lovely sound: singing is conveying your emotion, your engagement, and your character’s situation to the audience. Once your voice is lined up with great technique, your “own” true voice will begin to surface with an increased vocal range, resonance, and heightened flexibility between notes. You will explore who YOU are as a singer and discover what repertoire works best for you. I also emphasize working through the actor’s process, so she can fully prepare you for any audition or performance.

About Kelly

Hi, I'm Kelly! I'm a coloratura soprano who currently resides near New York City. With a strong emphasis on vocal technique, I teach voice in my private studio or at The County College of Morris, where I serve as an adjunct faculty member. My son had such a blast at his first lesson. Thank you Kelly for making him feel so at ease! Your beautiful voice and obvious love of music, your teaching technics and your openness to my son's needs hooked him in :) He cannot wait for his next lesson. See you soon!

Kelly is a fantastic teacher who we would recommend without hesitation. Kelly partners the dynamics of voice, proper breathing techniques and performing skills to make sure her students reach their full potential. While working with her, my daughter has built a diverse repertoire of performance pieces, expanded her range and learned a solid foundation of voice instruction. Her fun and dynamic lessons would benefit singers of any level.

I have a unique approach to voice in that I want all of my students to be able to sing in any style. I have been exploring vocal anatomy for a few years now to answer a question that has always fascinated me: how does a pop singer create a different sound than an opera singer or a jazz singer? The answer is vocal anatomy. Whether we realize it or not, all voice lessons really do is teach us how to move around our vocal apparatus in an effective manner.
I don't believe in wasting lesson time with extensive warm ups. I would so much rather have more time to teach you the content you need to become a successful singer. The other thing that is unique about my lessons is that we do not spend the whole time singing. Just like you wouldn't pick up an instrument and just start playing, singing without the knowledge of how our voice works is not time effective. I know this may sound strange, but my students are always amazed at how quickly they progress. A little knowledge goes a long way.
