I am a working knitwear designer here in Brooklyn, specializing in sustainable, and ethical handmade knitwear and homegoods. Along with running my own company, I specialize in teaching beginning/intermediate crochet students! All ages are welcome! My lessons are customized and catered to the needs and goals of each student. Not only will you be crocheting like an experienced champion, but you will be building a strong foundation for crocheting that can be applied to the numerous stitches and technique I will help you master while we work together and via homework projects. Let me bring my love of fiber and a skill that never stops givng to you! Let's get started!
About Rachael
I studied fine art and photography during college, but incorporated my love of fiber arts into my work since I was a very young child. I first learned to crochet when I was 10 years old! I was a practicing photographer in the world of music and conceptual portraiture for years before switching over to starting my knitwear brand in 2009. My company are venture fellows at the Brooklyn Fashion + Design Accelerator, a hub for sustainable fashion, and is a proud member of the Ethical Fashion Forum's Fellowship 500 as a leader in a diverse group of brands
My company has been featured in Elle, Teen Vogue, Marie Claire, Real Simple, Women’s Health, Seventeen, Self Magazine, Lou Lou, & Time Out print publications and online at Chictopia, Ok Magazine, Refinery 29, Runway Hippie & Daily Candy to name a few. Our collections have been sold everywhere from Barney's Tokyo, American Rag CIE, ASOS and Henri Bendel in NYC.
My personal passion is knitwear and crocheting, but I firmly believe I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any fiber art. I'm very personable and excited to teach people of all ages this functional, creative skill in a fun, laid back environment! I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better crocheter and designer!
