I have been crocheting since I was seven years old. I have made hundreds of projects. I specialize in baby apparel but I also make specialty items such as: purses, scarves, beanies, headbands, and blankets. There isn't much I cannot make with a pattern by my side.

About Kay
I have been teaching Piano for 20 years now. I have taught students from age 2 1/2 - Adult. I was self-taught when I was a kid and begun taking formal lessons as a very young adult in my early twenties. I graduated from CSULB with my BA in Music with a concentration on Voice. As a Music major, you spend a lot of time at the Piano. I became a member of MTAC in 2004 and a member of Sigma Alpha Iota in 1998. I have a great passion for Music and a bigger passion for the Piano and sharing the wonders of how beautiful the Piano really is.

*** Lesson Details ***
In my opinion, piano is the hardest instrument to learn, but the most rewarding. If you can play piano you can pretty much play any instrument. I believe that a piano lesson should be fun. I'm a strict teacher with a smile and a giggle. I push my students to greatness while helping t
hem love the piano through the good times and the bad. I'm a very encouraging but honest teacher. I compliment when warranted and I assess incorrect performances in an honest, but encouraging manner. I always let a student know that, though their performance was not their best, they can and will improve. It's always only a matter of time. I use the Schaum and Nevin series depending on the student's personality. I teach Classical and Pop Music. It's important for a student to learn the Classics and gain the ability to play things they like. I find the happy balance between the two. I teach Beginning to Intermediate levels. I also like to incorporate Music theory into the lessons because understanding the mechanics of Music helps make playing and creating Music much easier to accomplish. A typical lesson will start off with a hand drill warm up. We then will move on to the lesson book and repertoire. Theory will be assigned as homework. I look it over at the beginning of the lesson and discuss it and answer any questions in the last five minutes of class. Baby lessons go as followed: 15 mins. of play time and 15 mins of Music theory. I like to keep structure in my lessons but sprinkle a little joy and laughter to keep the atmosphere light. It makes for a much more attentive Piano student.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to have a Piano or Keyboard of some sort. I may provide music on occasion.

*** Specialties ***

About Dovile
I began teaching while studying in Art Institute. My first students were 5 to 7 yr. old kids. It was very challenging, but also very rewarding. I was teaching them skills, they were teaching me patience. Later the age of my students grew, until I ended up teaching the same students I was in the same classes just 6 months ago. Again another challenge. I love challenges and even more I love helping others to overcome them.
My philosophy about teaching is that everybody can learn, it is only the way how we learn is different for different people. Another very important thing - I strive to be creative, respectful and approachable.

I had an awesome learning experience with Karen. She is patient and knowledgeable and I definitely knew how to crochet when I left after just one lesson. She showed me how to make a scarf and showed me how I can take those stitches and make a blanket. She taught me how to read the symbols and patterns and I can crochet!!!

Just from our first lesson I can tell that I will improve my abilities by leaps and bounds under Carla's instruction. She adapted our lesson to my learning level within minutes of my arrival. We made great progress during the meeting, and I have plenty of take-away to keep me busy until our next lesson.

Simple visual and vocal instructions, chart reading, decoding patterns, and stitch assessment tutoring.

About JESSICA
Having spent my entire (short) life in choirs, music classes, and private lessons, I learned one thing to enforce above all else: it’s okay to be wrong. You’ll hit wrong notes, your fingers will slip, you’ll need to work on posture. And that’s okay. I was privately trained in the Belle Canto style for 10 years, but to this day I forget to breathe properly. It’s not the end of anything. It’s rarely even the end of the song.

I’ve coached professional and amateur singers for 3 years, coached diction and pronunciation for 4, and worked for a local opera company for the past 4 years as well. If it’s something you choose to do, I’m prepared to instruct proper technique as applied to a multitude of languages.

But above all, I strive for you to be comfortable and happy with your instruction. Music is for the soul. It should never make you fee
l worse to make it.

I see hobbies as a way to relieve stress , meditate and spend some quality personal time alone or with friends/family.

Crocheting and even knitting can be very therapeutic if you love seeing things you create come to life.
It's also satisfying and brings with it a sort of pride from seeing a project through.

About SUNESIS
For as long as I can remember, friends and family have always described me as the girl with a book 📖 in her hands because I am almost always reading something. I love to read and write (creatively and even academically). My nieces and nephew started reading ahead of their class because of all the time we spent reading and learning words and sounds together. It’s always exciting to learn new things and open up yourself to a world of possibilities through books and other written materials.

I write poetry, manage my growing blog and crochet /Knit also. I try to reach myself something new as often as I can and hopefully we will be learning together.

Crocheting is an art as well as a skill! I have experience in a variety of techniques, including amigurumi (stuffed animals), and graphghans. I am the sponsor of a crochet club for my high school, and can teach novices from the very beginning. I can even crochet left-handed, if you're a south paw! From pattern reading, to tension, to complex stitches, let me guide you on your fiber crafting journey.

About Ashton
Hello potential student! My name is Ashton, and I'm a teacher by trade. I teach students with dyslexia how to read and spell, and I've been doing so since high school. I love language; I'm taking classes to learn about the history and function of English. I really enjoy teaching English not as a language with a bunch of flaws, but as a language with a rich history and rules that aren't always obvious. Crocheting is one of my hobbies, and I'm always thrilled to pass it along to the next generation of crafters. I take martial arts because I believe in being an empowered, confident female, and I always treat my students like the capable individuals that they are!
