Hello! I am delighted that you have an interest in learning how to draw, and I am excited to teach you! After receiving my BFA in Drawing through Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, I then went on to study in Leicester England. There, I completed my MA in Art Museum and Gallery Studies with a focus on museum education. Since then, I have been teaching art and languages both online and in-person.
Our lessons can either focus entirely on techniques, or we can incorporate an understanding of art history and a variety of subject matter while still keeping a technical focus on crafting foundational skills (shading techniques, perspective, contour drawings, self-portraits, still life drawing, and more).
At the moment, lessons will all be virtual, but that doesn't mean we need to stay indoors. I encourage venturing outside (safely) if that is of interest to you.

Why TakeLessons?
Hear From TakeLessons Students
Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

We have been working on building up foundational skills and their sequence, which gives me clear understanding on what each small step means in the long term. Based on my interest and what I knew and didn’t know, Jessica would design each lesson with a specific focus in mind, usually around practicing a certain technique. Her homework (I ask for homework since I draw slowly) also reinforces those learnings. I feel more confident with each lesson, and my progress is noticeable.
Also, she is incredibly encouraging, patient, and generous. I never feel judged or self-conscious practicing techniques in front of her (often clumsily) or showing her my new drawings. She always gives thorough feedback and encouraging words. Overall, she gives me confidence on my journey, and that is much needed for an adult student who didn’t have the chance to start when younger. Best teacher ever!"
