I have a wide range of experience with percussion which includes west African, Brazilian, and Latin styles. I have a djembe but I have also played essential conga rhythms and patterns as well as various other instruments including drum set. I have a drum set at my studio in Charlestown as well.

About Charlie

I like to keep the lessons engaging by finding songs and material that the student is interested in. Every song is a world in itself and can offer many insights into the history and development of music. I'm currently finishing my second album of music that I wrote with SlowPokeNTurtle wh

Charlie is the most patient and musical music teacher I have ever experienced and I am old! His approach to teaching is first rate. He is incredibly knowledgeable about all forms of music.

This guy is incredible. He creates a safe space where you feel inspired to improvise and experiment with music. He showed me songs that changed my music taste and playing style completely. The best part of learning with him is that it feels like you are jamming with a good friend. He not only is an incredible musician but also a great mentor. I have only good things to say about Charlie
Kevin
Charlie McClaren is one of the greatest music teachers I've ever had. Learning music with him never felt like a chore, rather it was a journey we shared. He's patient and understanding, but he'll make sure you understand the music thoroughly. He showed me that music was more than an art form, it's a lens you see the world through. I can't recommend Charlie enough, no matter where you are on your musical journey, he'll take you to the next level!

Jackie taught my son saxophone lessons and my daughter flute lessons for a year while we lived in Belmont. She did a fabulous job and my daughter made it into advanced band when we moved to Texas. My son also made a lot of progress as an absolute beginner. I highly recommend Jackie for music lessons for children and teens.

I worked with Michelle for a little over 2 years. As an adult student, I was super nervous about singing in front of anyone - it took me this long to just sign up for lessons! She was patient with me and gave me lots of tools for dealing with my nerves and stage fright. Michelle helped me to choose songs that I not only wanted to sing but that matched my voice and range. I was hesitant about performing in a recital but Michelle pointed out that it was like training for a marathon - doing all the work but not performing just seemed silly. It wasn't perfect but it was definitely something I'm proud to have crossed off my bucket list.

I have been under the instruction of Noah for a little over two months now and I really enjoy his teaching style. I am older and not a proficient reader of music so Noah has had to start with very basic skills for me. He has done a great job of making it understandable. I am learning to read music and to play the ukulele at the same time, and am enjoying the online lessons.

He makes himself available, and is gracious when circumstances prevents the lesson for that week. Given my busy schedule, I've had to stop the guitar lessons. However, I just saw that they may be able to be done online?...If that's the case, please contact me Jimmy. I'd love to re-start asap.

"I have visited many singing teachers over the years but the way in which Fawn helps you develop your vocal range with proper vocal placement, and having fun in the process, makes her stand out as the best vocal coach there is. It's no wonder she made the top 5% of Best music coaches in the United States. I would highly recommend her. She will find some notes in your range that you never knew existed and her exercises work.

5 Rock Songs with Awesome Keyboard or Piano

Interested in branching out from the typical classical piano repertoire? Learn how to explore the world of rock with this guest post by Saint Augustine, FL teacher Heather L...   During my past decade of teaching music, I've met a lot of students who seem interested only in taking drums or guitar. Why? It's not because they were particularly well-suited to either of them, or because they loved the instruments, but because they wanted to play rock music, and they thought that the only way …
