I've taught people who were just beginning violin (both children and adults) to students who were working on major concertos. What is most important to me as a teacher is building a strong foundation from which it is possible to branch out and connect emotionally with the music they play. I also strive to make performers out of violinists and to help them engage both audiences and themselves.

About Ha-eun

I have been surrounded by music my whole life and have played violin for 20 years. I went to high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy, obtained a BM in violin performance at Oberlin Conservatory and an MM at the Boston Conservatory. I have won competitions, played in professional orchestras, per

I was exited to start my first lesson and it was great! Ha-eun welcomed me warmly and I think learning with her will be successfull and wonderful at the same time. Looking forward to my next lesson!

Ha-eun is a great violin teacher. I'm an adult learner that picked up the violin to try something different. I've played saxophone for 15 years, and have gone through many types of teachers. I can say Ha-eun is one of the best. She's experienced and patient. We started lessons in person and moved to online because of COVID19, and still going strong through the Suzuki book. She would be great to teach young or old alike!

Her help with bow hold, relaxation with the right hand and arm, will help me enjoy playing.

Philip is an excellent teacher and gave me very heloful pointers on my technique. I am an advanced player and have performed semi-professionally several times but hadn't learned proper technique in the past.

I plan to continue with him regularly to improve my technique and skill level.

Philip was so friendly and patient, and made my 7 year old very comfortable with her first lesson. He really knew how to speak on her level and his instruction was very positive and motivating. My daughter left the lesson very excited to start practicing what he showed her, and we can't wait till the next lesson!

Very helpful person to work with, understanding of my student's transportation difficulties and great about rescheduling. The girl likes him and is learning.

Music is awesome!! I teach all levels and all kinds of music: from Bach to Brahms, Pop songs, Rock and Roll, beginner to advanced and everywhere in between. I love teaching both classical and non classical music because all music is beautiful and can remind us of a favorite song or maybe even a fond memory. I teach how to learn music by ear and love the deeper connection that understanding all the notes of a piece can bring to a performance. I teach duets (of any level) for the purpose of practicing chamber music skills. I’ve taught students ages 5-19 for over 5 years and have a degree in Viola Performance and have been playing the violin and viola for 17 years.

About John

Helping someone achieve a goal or learn something new is my passion! As a teacher I've taught students just starting out on violin and viola as well as experienced players looking for tips on how to improve and everything in between. Music is my life and sharing it is my passion. I graduated f

Paul has been a wonderful instructor for our 9 year old. He has a way of teaching while incorporating structured learning techniques that kept my son engaged in the lesson (no small feat for him!). Paul demonstrated absolute patience with my son and taught him the new while reinforcing some core violinist positioning and methods. He is very communicative and available when there are questions. The platform for doing remote violin lessons has worked out surprisingly nicely! I highly recommend Paul!

Paul is a most excellent violin instructor. He is very patient and kind. I don't feel self conscious about learning the violin as Paul quickly puts me at ease when I am challenged. Paul explains and demonstrates everything so well that it is much easier to catch on. In addition Paul has a very friendly and relaxed disposition that makes him a delight to work with. Without a doubt I highly recommend Paul as a WHOLE but he is UBER Great with novice students such as myself.

I have been teaching children of all age groups to acquire a solid foundation in violin playing. Whether it be pre-K beginners, or high school students getting ready for college auditions, I will communicate with the students and parents to set a number of goals to achieve.
I also welcome adult students, beginners and amateur enthusiasts alike.

In addition to gaining expertise in the techniques in violin playing, students in my studio will be given opportunities to gain comprehensive music knowledge including theory, sight singing, ear training, and any relevant music history, as the above-mentioned knowledge are indispensable elements in violin playing. Singing and clapping are essential parts of the lesson. When students are equipped with the basics, they can play anything and make the music they want.

About Dongbin

I am a concert soloist, and have given concerts home and abroad. I have previously served as the concertmaster at the Hartt Symphony Orchestra and the Waterbury Chorale. I am also an avid chamber musician with chamber music experience from age of 15 as a member of the Shin Trio. I was appointed as

My son has been taking violin lessons with Dongbin for almost 3 years since he started playing at age 5. Dongbin has been a great teacher, and my son enjoys learning from him. His lessons include not only violin playing, but also clapping rhythms, singing notes, and other exercises that have been effective ways of learning for my son, while keeping him engaged throughout the lesson. Dongbin recognizes my son’s strengths in playing violin, but also identifies the skills and techniques that he should focus on to become a better player and to build a strong foundation as he progresses. He also gives suggestions to help sharpen those skills while practicing at home. We have been very pleased with our experience with Dongbin as our son’s violin teacher.

What’s the Difference Between Professional and Student Violins?

Getting the right instrument is one of the most important decisions in a musician's life. The right violin will feel comfortable in your hands, respond accurately and consistently to your touch, and help you produce the best possible sound for your level of musical development. Students learning the violin can rent or purchase instruments from music instrument retailers, and they offer a variety of instruments that can seem daunting for the novice violin purchaser. When will you know that it' …

How Does Violin Restoration Work?

What is Violin Restoration? Violins are can be finely crafted instruments made by master luthiers with decades of experience or machine-made student models put together on an assembly line. These are the two extremes that one can encounter when owning or renting a violin.  There are, of course, many variations of these extremes that will affect the cost and value of these instruments. One thing that all of these different levels of violins have in common is that they come from the workshop or …
